Wellington High School's squad had the best area performance Friday, finishing seventh overall in the Extra Large Varsity Division in the FHSAA State Championships at Silver Spurs Arena.

Benjamin was 20th in the Large Varsity Division and Inlet Grove was 18th in the Small Coed Division.

Palm Beach Gardens was 18th in the Medium Varsity Division, followed by Dwyer (22nd) and West Boca (29th).

"I am so proud of these girls," Palm Beach Gardens coach Emily Wilson said. "They hit everything very well (Friday) and they get better every year. They exceeded my expectations for sure."

Cheerleading squads from King's Academy, Olympic Heights, Palm Beach Central, Royal Palm Beach and Seminole Ridge will compete in today's events. The schedule includes Small Varsity, Large Varsity Coed, and Non-Tumbling squads.

Under the FHSAA's open format, any school may opt to enter a cheerleading team in the state competition.

Friday's state champions were Crestview (Small Coed Division), Orlando-Timber Creek (Medium Varsity Division), Winter Park (Large Varsity Division) and Orlando-Bishop Moore (Extra Large Varsity Division).

You guys should do a story on The King's Academy, consideing they won the largest division at the FHSAA Competition. TKA beat 56 teams, in the non-tumbling division to bring the State Title back to Palm Beach County. Also in TKA's division were Royal Palm Beach (26th place), Seminole Ridge (31st), and Palm Beach Central (36th). Go Lions!

I agree... where is the article for the King's Academy Cheerleaders? They are 2010 FHSAA State Champions and deserve the recognition.
