Dwyer has won blowouts in the past, but rarely like this.
After trailing 3-0 and looking like they were headed for defeat, the fifth-ranked Panthers rallied for two runs in the fifth and 10 runs in the sixth, routing seventh-ranked Park Vista 12-3.
"It feels really good," said freshman Danielle Fernandez, who began Dwyer's rally with a two-run double in the fifth inning. "We didn't just come back, but we did it against a really big opponent."
Park Vista took an early 1-0 lead in the second off a Christina Braunworth RBI, and then took a 3-0 lead in the fourth when Makenzie Garcia homered to center. The Cobras (15-5) wouldn't score again, while Dwyer was just getting started.
After Fernandez's two RBI brought the Panthers (15-5) to within a run, a Lindsay Fussell RBI in the sixth tied the game.
From there, the Panthers couldn't be denied — RBI hits from Alyssa Gordan, Caitlin McCready, Clare Hosack and Dede Jacobs (2), as well as a passed ball and an error, earned Dwyer the rout.
"We showed some character," Dwyer coach Joe Della Rocca said. "They did a good job of staying in the game when it didn't look so good, and that's a good sign for our team."
Della Rocca was surprised by the final score.
"The score was not indicative of the type of the game it was," he said. "We're not better than them by a wide margin, but sometimes things just get away from you."

I agree, Jordanne Kessel is the best S.S. in the county. PBC also has the best center fielder (Christina Robbs) and left fielder (Chelsea Neil) in the county. By the way, Carmona is real good defensively, but Hosack is the best all around catcher right now.
I dont think so commented on April 7, 2010 at 10:48 a.m.: report abuse

All of you are the most hepitudines people I have ever heard in a long time. Caitlin McCready, from dwyer, is THE best center feilder that I have ever seen. She has the skills to catch balls behind her back with ease like no other center fielder can. If you have any questions or concerns, Holla at ya boy!!

How about you all stop talking and start playing. PROVE it on the field!
