Regarding stats, which I can't find here online, but were in today's paper: The #1 hitter has 422, not 260-something reported in the paper. There is a blocker with a ridiculous number of blocks (must result in a point!) and a another hitter with almost 400 kills (impressive, but means she is averaging almost 17 kills per match, even though many of those matches - from tournament games- only go 2-3 sets). So, my question is: are there a lot of typos in the PB Post or are coaches not reporting stats correctly? This would be why many coaches don't put stats in. Correct stats can be found on MaxPreps.com and/or C2C schools

Stats for many teams are very skewed. As a coach and athlete in Palm Beach County for the last 15 years, I can tell you that some teams have players take their stats without teaching them what they really are, or parents. If one player has 25 or more kills in a match that only goes to three, that would mean the games were total blow outs and one girl got most of the sets and then put all those sets away.
Same goes with blocks, a great night of blocking in a match would be close to 10, I have seen posts of 20 blocks in a match. Take the statistics that you see posted lightly.

As a parent who has been trained to keep stats and keeps them at every game, I take pride in accurately assessing the stats. I agree that the stats listed sometimes seem skewed. It is not a difficult task for a person who knows what they are doing and knows the rules of the game. I think the coaches should do a training for this before they allow a person to keep the stats.
