Thursday's roundup: Park Vista girls win state bowling title

Park Vista earned its first team state championship when the Cobras captured the girls bowling title Thursday at Orlando's Boardwalk Bowl.
In the fourth and final game of the championship match, Park Vista defeated Orange City-University 235-155, marking in every frame and getting strikes in the final five frames.
"We had great team spirit," sophomore Kendra Handler said. "We decided we had to do this. Failure was not an option."
Kyleigh Roulette is the only senior for the Cobras, who finished seventh at state last year.
"We finally made it," Roulette said. "I never actually felt I would be here winning. It's the most amazing feeling."
Suncoast girls finish second: Sophomore Fabiana Ingram led the Chargers to a second-place finish at the Class 2A state swimming and diving championships at Central Florida YMCA Aquatic Center in Orlando.
Suncoast finished second with 161 points, behind Tallahassee Chiles, which won its third consecutive title with 304.5 points.
"I'm very excited," Suncoast coach Valerie Newcomer said. "This year's state competition was a lot more challenging. There was a lot of new swimmers and it was a faster meet. I was really excited the way they stepped up and swam well."
Ingram finished second in the girls 100 backstroke in 56.71. She also swam the lead leg of the Chargers' 200 medley relay team that placed third (1:49.14). The relay also included Daniela Vega, Carolyn Lee and Hannah Vandersluis.
Vandersluis finished fifth in both the 200 IM (2:08.75) and 100 breaststroke (1:06.38).
Vero Beach 30, Santaluces 20: Sean Steele threw three second-half touchdowns, but the Chiefs (5-4) couldn't overcome a 30-0 deficit at the half as the Indians (8-1) held on in Vero Beach.
Treasure Coast 21, Melbourne-Palm Bay 7: Devin Ferguson's 52-yard interception return for a touchdown helped the Titans (5-3) stop the Pirates (6-3) in Port St. Lucie.

Benjamin 21, John Carroll 6: Drew Spragg ran for two touchdowns and Cooper Hopkins threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Charlie Nicklaus, helping the Buccaneers (9-1) advance with the win over the Rams (6-4) in Palm Beach Gardens.
Fort Lauderdale-Pine Crest 45, Pope John Paul II 26: DeQuan McGriff scored three touchdowns, rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns and also had three catches and another score, but the Eagles (8-2) fell to the Panthers (9-1) in Boca Raton.
Seminole Ridge 4, Dreyfoos 2: Cody Ehrland scored two goals and Jared Skinner added three assists to lead the Hawks (1-1) past the Jaguars (1-2) in Loxahatchee. Jovany Ponce de Leon had four saves for Seminole.
Royal Palm Beach 4, South Fork 3: Camilo Casanova and Ojay Nichol each had a goal and an assist to help the Wildcats (1-0) edge the Bulldogs (0-1) in Royal Palm Beach.
American Heritage 9, Coral Springs Charter 0: Walker Dawkins had three goals and three assists and Austin Mills added two goals and an assist and Frederick Gill contributed a goal and two assists to lead the Stallions (1-0) to the rout of the Panthers in Delray Beach.
Trinity Christian 6, Oxbridge Academy 1: Gerritson Craane and Philippe Holas scored two goals apiece and Darren Seferina added a goal and two assists as the Warriors (2-0) routed the Thunderwolves in West Palm Beach.
King's Academy 1, Clewiston 0: Pat Monaco scored a goal and Nick Bates had five saves as the Lions (2-0) edged the Tigers in Clewiston.
Jupiter Christian 7, Inlet Grove 2: Cristian Auna had three goals and Lawson Lindsey added two goals and an assist to lead the Eagles (1-0) past the Hurricanes (0-1) in Riviera Beach. Tyler Player had nine saves in goal for the Eagles.
Centennial 3, Jensen Beach 0: Andrew Weisbrot had seven saves, but the Falcons (0-2) fell to the Eagles (2-0) in Jensen Beach.
Martin County 7, John Carroll 0: Cole Hercik had five saves, but the Falcons (0-2) fell to the Tigers in Stuart.
Vero Beach 2, Pine School 1: A.J. Lettengarver scored a goal, but the Knights (1-1) fell to the Indians in Hobe Sound.

South Florida HEAT 3, Lake Worth Christian 2: Tiffany Anderson scored two goals, including the 100th of her career, but the Defenders (3-1) fell to the Heat in Boynton Beach.
Glades Day 3, Clewiston 0: Kassidy Roberts scored two goals and Cooper Bartley also scored as the Gators (3-0) shut down the Tigers (0-1-2) in Belle Glade.
Dreyfoos 2, Seminole Ridge 1: Alana Grnja had both goals for the Jaguars (1-1) as they edged the Hawks in Loxahatchee. Goalkeeper Nikki Labonte had four saves in the win.
Boca Raton 8, Lake Worth 0: Taylor Moos had three goals and an assist and Morgan Mannweiler added two goals and an assist to lead the Bobcats (4-0) to the rout of the Trojans in Boca Raton. Goalkeeper Mari Tamaccio earned her third shutout for Boca.
Pine School 2, Wellington Christian 0: Sarah Scharfi scored two goals and Cassidy Bell had 15 saves as the Knights (1-2) shut out the Defenders in Hobe Sound.
Boca Raton Christian 8, Deerfield Beach-Zion Lutheran 0: Gabby Hurtado scored three goals and Victoria Fonseca added two goals as the Blazers (2-2) routed the Lions (2-2) in Boca Raton.
Oxbridge Academy 4, Trinity Christian 3: Lorena Cedeno scored two goals and Lisa Cedeno added a goal and two assists as the Thunderwolves (5-0) edged the Warriors in Palm Beach Gardens.
