Softball: No. 4 Park Vista stops No. 5 Palm Beach Central in season opener.

Jaime Scher hit a grand slam, leading fourth-ranked Park Vista to a season-opening 8-3 victory over fifth-ranked Palm Beach Central on Tuesday night in Boynton Beach.
Scher's home run capped a six-run third inning that put the Cobras ahead for good. Taylor Scher was 3-for-4 with an RBI for Vista.
No. 2 Jupiter 9, No. 10 Suncoast 0: Kylee Hanson struck out 11 and had two doubles at the plate, Kasey McMullen was 3-for-3 and Alex Arciola was 2-for-4 with four RBI to lead the Warriors (1-0) to the rout of the Chargers (0-1) in Jupiter.
Dwyer 8, King's Academy 0: Ali Irwin struck out 10 and had two RBI and two runs scored at the plate and Erika Peeples collected five RBI as the Panthers (1-0) shut down the Lions (0-1) in Palm Beach Gardens.
Wellington 9, Boca Raton 1: Erin Huffman was 1-for-1 with an RBI, but the Bulls (0-1) fell to the Wolverines (1-0) in Boca Raton.
Royal Beach 14, Glades Central 1 (5): Kelly Roberson and Kristina Hayslip combined to hold the Raiders (0-1) to one run as the Wildcats (2-0) rolled in Belle Glade.
Jupiter Christian 7, Pope John Paul II 6 (10): Calli Norton struck out 15 and collected a double and a triple and four RBI at the plate, but took the loss as Pope John Paul II (0-1) fell to Jupiter Christian (1-0) in Boca Raton. Baillie Jorth was 3-for-5 with a double for Pope.
John Carroll 14, Cardinal Newman 3 (5): Tyler Chanida collected three hits, including two doubles, and Lizzie Rahal earned the victory as the Rams (1-0) routed the Crusaders (0-1) in West Palm Beach. Kasey Rivera was 3-for-3 with two doubles and a run scored for Newman.
Pompano Beach-Highlands Christian 12, Benjamin 9: Kali Chaplin had three triples, a double, two RBI and a stolen base, but the Buccaneers (0-1) fell to the Knights in Palm Beach Gardens.
Fort Pierce Central 7, Treasure Coast 1: Tori Johnson struck out six and was 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI to lead the Cobras (1-0) over the Titans (0-1) in Port St. Lucie.
Clewiston 12, Moore Haven 0 (5): Sydney Duckstein was 4-for-4 with a two-run double and two runs scored and Brooke Flynn was 2-for-2 with two runs as the Tigers (1-0) routed the Terriers (0-1) in Moore Haven.
Santaluces 16, Palm Beach Lakes 0 (3): Lexie Burn pitched a complete game, with four strikeouts, and also added two hits, leading the Chiefs to the rout of the Rams late Monday in Lantana. Colleen Navarette and Leeah Heiferman each added two hits and two RBI for the Chiefs.
