Baseball: No. 2 Palm Beach Gardens routs Cardinal Newman

Nick Horvath drove in four runs, leading the second-ranked Palm Beach Gardens baseball team to an 11-1 rout of Cardinal Newman in five innings Tuesday night in West Palm Beach.

The Gators improved to 2-0 on the season.

No. 5 Palm Beach Central 7, West Boca Raton 4: Jorge Alfonso pitched five shutout innings, striking out five, and Joe Shue had two stolen bases and scored three runs as the Broncos (3-1) downed the Bulls in Wellington.

No. 8 Wellington 8, Seminole Ridge 3: Mike Cusenza was 4-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored to lead the Wolverines (3-1) over the Hawks (2-1) in Wellington. Jake Summey was 3-for-3 with an RBI double for Wellington.

No. 10 Summit Christian 6, No. 9 Park Vista 2: Colin Smith had a double, two runs scored and an RBI and Zach Lauren struck out three in three innings as the Saints (2-2) beat the Cobras (1-1) in Boynton Beach.

Suncoast 9, Boynton Beach 0: Suncoast's Engel, Jack Granger and Casey Goldenberg combined to no-hit the Tigers in Boynton Beach. Troy Hoecker was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs and Will Engel went 2-for-3 with three RBI for the Chargers (1-2).

American Heritage 14, Boca Raton 3 (6): Anfernee Seymour was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base and Anthony Delaney went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs as the Stallions (1-3) routed the Bobcats (1-2) in Boca Raton.

John I. Leonard 5, Olympic Heights 4: Chris Perez had two RBI and Ivan Canete struck out eight as the Lancers (2-0) edged the Lions (1-1) in Boca Raton. Casey Furnas had an RBI and two runs scored for Olympic Heights (1-1).

King's Academy 4, Jupiter Christian 0: John Monte hit a two-run triple and Sean Hart pitched four scoreless innings with four strikeouts, leading the Lions (3-1) over the Eagles (1-2) in Jupiter. Garrett Shook was 1-for-2 for Jupiter Christian.

Oxbridge 7, Glades Day 6: Chase Morell scored three runs and Tyler Levin earned the save as the Thunderwolves (1-1) edged the Gators in Boca Raton.

Pope John Paul II 4, Spanish River 2: Alex Bialakis pitched five innings, striking out six and Nick Transleau had a double and two RBI as the Eagles defeated the Sharks in Boca Raton. Cameron Weinberger had seven strikeouts for Spanish River.

St. Andrew's 12, Hollywood-Sheridan Hills Christian 0 (5): Justin Valente doubled and drove in three runs to lead the Scots (3-0) to the rout of the Sharks in Hollywood. Zach Moses struck out seven in three no-hit innings to earn the win.

Community Christian 17, Yeshiva 0 (5): Alex Roberts was 4-for-4 with a grand slam and seven RBIs and John Cunningham went 5-for-5 with two triples and three singles as the Cougars (1-0) cruised past the Storm (0-1) in Boca Raton.

South Fork 7, Fort Pierce Central 3: Jason Popovich had an RBI and scored three runs and also had seven strikeouts on the mound and Nick Snyder added two RBI and a run scored as the Bulldogs (2-0) defeated the Cobras in Fort Pierce.

All the starters were in and Heritage only beat King's 4-1??

Dwyer won. Score was about 9-6 in a lot of innings

The AH/Kings score was 8-1 when the game was called due to darkness.
