Soccer: Royal Palm Beach girls advance in district tournament

Nicole Giarusso had a goal and an assist, leading Royal Palm Beach to a 4-1 victory over Lake Worth in a District 14-4A girls soccer quarterfinal Tuesday night in Royal Palm Beach.

Sarah Iman and Stephanie Pereda each added a goal for the South top-seeded Wildcats (12-6-1) against the South fourth-seeded Trojans.

Royal Palm advances to face North second-seeded Martin County in today's semifinals.

District 14-4A

Olympic Heights 1, Forest Hill 0: Beth Gaffey scored a goal and Maddy Miller had three saves to earn the shutout as the South second-seeded Lions (7-10-6) edged the South third-seeded Falcons in Royal Palm Beach.

Martin County 3, Port St. Lucie 0: Megan Whitman had two goals and Molly Bradfield added a goal to lead the North second-seeded Tigers (12-3-5) past the North third-seeded Jaguars in Royal Palm Beach. Madison Provines had three saves for the Tigers.

South Fork 6, Fort Pierce Central 0: Jody LeMaster scored three goals and Christie Funk tallied five saves as the North top-seeded Bulldogs (15-1-1) shut down the North fourth-seeded Cobras in Royal Palm Beach.

District 13-1A

Boca Raton Christian 6, FAU High 0: Gabby Hurtado had two goals and an assist to lead the top-seeded Blazers (7-10-1) to the rout of the fifth-seeded Owls in Boca Raton. Alex Link earned her fifth shutout for the Blazers, who will face Yeshiva in the championship Thursday in Boca Raton.

District 12-1A

Lake Worth Christian 5, Jupiter Christian 1: Hannah Tannone and Kendra Cashion each had a goal and an assist as the fourth-seeded Defenders (13-8-1) upset the top-seeded Eagles (12-4-1) in Boynton Beach. Brooke Munroe scored for Jupiter Christian. The host Defenders will face second-seeded Trinity Christian in the final at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Boynton Beach.

Trinity Christian 2, Glades Day 1: Dahlia Pierre scored two goals and Tori Hamel added an assist as the Warriors (12-6) edged the Gators in Boynton Beach.

BOYS

Trinity Christian 7, Summit Christian 1: Gerritson Craane had three goals and an assist and Victor Abood added two goals and an assist to lead the Warriors (15-0) to the rout of the Saints in West Palm Beach. Nick Nedd had five saves for Trinity.

Pine School 4, Melbourne-Holy Trinity 2: Dalton White had two goals and an assist and Nate Romero added a goal to lead the Knights (8-11-1) over the Tigers in Stuart.
