No. 10 Glades Central 47, Pahokee 18: Raiders pull away to win Muck Bowl

Glades Central played as well as it could, and strutted off the field, daring Pahokee to respond.
The Blue Devils lined up in formation. They played. Moments later, the home crowd was on fire.
Yes, Pahokee's talented band, with 39 pieces, three drum majors, 20 dancers, six flag-wavers and boisterous, sharp-witted PA announcer Antwan Handy, certainly got the best of Glades Central in the 2012 Muck Bowl. However, the football team fell short.
The Blue Devils, with precious few linemen on the roster and several of their top players out with injuries, were no match for the playoff-bound Raiders. In a sloppy game that included an astronomical 329 yards in penalties, No. 10 Glades Central won 47-18 on Friday night, hoisting the Muck Bowl trophy for the fifth straight time.

Even though Pahokee was down 14-10 at the half, it wasn't a fair fight. Bigger, stronger and bound for the playoffs, Glades Central wanted to break away and start preparing for next Friday's playoff game against Rockledge.
The Raiders got three touchdowns from senior Will Likely, two receiving and one rushing. Likely finished with four catches for 92 yards and carried eight times for 37 yards on a night Glades Central hardly bothered with the run. Senior quarterback T.J. Abrams was 11-of-28 for 228 yards, throwing for four touchdowns with two interceptions.
Despite 105 yards in penalties in the first quarter alone, Pahokee went up 10-0. Abrams slipped in the end zone for a safety, and then freshman McArthur Bennett returned the ensuing kickoff 66 yards for a touchdown. Senior Devaris Osborne hauled in a tipped pass for the two-point conversion.
Just more than a minute into the second quarter, Likely turned a screen pass from Abrams into a 46-yard touchdown.
After Pahokee sophomore Leon Anderson recovered an Abrams fumble, Glades Central got the ball back. Abrams hit Ronquavion Tarver (four catches, 76 yards, TD) for an 11-yard touchdown pass to take a 14-10 lead.
After battle of the bands thrilled the crowd, which numbered about 3,500 by halftime, they watched the Raiders step on the gas.
Likely punched in a 2-yard touchdown at 7:54 of the third, after a bad snap set up the Raiders at Pahokee's 9-yard line. Three minutes later, Likely took a screen pass 15 yards for a touchdown. Abrams found Yvesner Ferdinand for a 35-yard TD with 6:37 left. Senior defensive lineman Monnavius Jean picked off a Derry Brown pass at the 8 and returned it for a score.
The halftime battle of the bands was the most cohesive part of the evening. Pahokee racked up 171 penalty yards on 22 calls and gained just 47 total yards. Glades Central had 16 penalties for 158 yards.

Whoever said or thought that the Blue Devils would have a chance of beating the Raiders, were dreaming. That's was a "beat-down" at its best! Sorry for you Blue Devils...you got beat at home against your rival team and did not make the playoffs. Go Raiders!!!!!

Typical of the Raiders to comment, and be mad excited that you get local bragging rights. It means more to us (Devils) to make it to state and WIN....You Raider fans care more about the Muck Bowl. Lol!!! Yes you have bragging rights for another year, but you aren't that hot. We did score 18 points on you. Those 18 points may not seem like much, but alot of you predicted Pahokee to not even get on the score board. Our team is rebuilding and we will prevail soon. As for you Raiders....Good luck with making it to state and WINNING. I know the coach will probably be fired if you all don't. Poor Blackman......

To Devils Pride: You said "typical of the Raiders to comment", NO TYPICAL FOR YOU TO RESPOND THE WAY YOU DID. Call it what you want to and you can, but do know, if does not matter if you scored 18 points...what matters is the Raiders defeated the Blue Devils. Let's not bring the state into this...but sense you did, the Blue Devils defeated the Raiders in 2006 and the Raiders went on to capture the state title that year against Pine Forest. So, please stop with the state comments. I want speak about your coaching staff because I'm a Raider with class and I respect the guys on your coaching staff. Stop hating for once and get over it. You know how it goes in the Glades, it does not matter what you do all season but the "Muck Bowl" is like the Super Bowl in the Glades. Here's something else to hate on, since that is what you are doing, we made the playoffs and the Blue Devils did not. Now that is factual. Go Raiders!!!!"

My concern about Marve's imepmveornt would be that he hasn't played in a live game since he left the U. So the experience level is still the same as when he left the U. Marve did make some good plays and the games against Wake and Va. Tech stand out to me there. More so his scrambling and running with the ball than his passing. Would Marve be better for having the year he missed due to injury? Would he have played significantly? I have been reading (my sources tell me) that he is definitely in the mix at Purdue to start. If Drew Brees comes back to campus and helps out that would be beneficial for him as well.J12 has a year of experience and growth Marve doesn't have. Even when they were at the U together, from my perspective J12 outplayed him. On the road at Duke and Virginia with come from behind wins, I think that was pretty impressive.Especially what he did against UVA on the road, 99 yards to tie and then the win in OT. I also think he showed more leadership on and off the field than Marve. I don't think it helped Marve to have been Nix's boy either, given the nature of the relationship with Nix and Shannon being what it was. I don't think that relationship was good for a long time and just surfaced in the Emerald Bowl.Marve's suspension for the Emerald Bowl and then he and his dad expecting him to be named the starter going into Spring practice, didn't show much leadership or maturity on Marve's part. We all talk aboput how there needs to be competition for starting spots but his attitude was one of entitlement and we see where that got Coker's guys.Just an Opinion. didn't mean to go on a rant, I believe in J12 and that he was the best QB from the start. If you watch the FSU game from last year I think J12 did a good job looking off the defense. Otherwise he locked on to a lot of different receivers in that game. He threw for what 384 yards in his first game against a heated rival on the road and won the game. I have no way of knowing, but I think Kelly would have been very complimentary. Did J12 make some mistakes as the year progressed? yes, hopefully he is watching film and has learned and is ready to lead us to the promised land. I think he is.I expect to see a ton of imepmveornt out of J12 this year and better numbers than last year overall. He did throw for over 3,000 yards, first to do so since Dorsey left. I think an improved running game that starts with the OL will be a big help to J12 and hope he feels like he doesn't have to do it all himself.
