Basketball: Jamal Palmer leads Atlantic boys to win

Jamal Palmer scored 28 points to lead Atlantic to a 54-48 victory over Dwyer at the Palm Beach Gardens Invitational on Thursday night.

Laitron Nelson contributed seven points for the Eagles, who will face host Palm Beach Gardens at 7:30 tonight.

Dwyer fell to 5-7 on the season.

East Lee County 62, Palm Beach Gardens 60: Brandon Stevens had 17 points and Tanner Litchfield added 13 points, but the Gators (1-12) were edged by the Jaguars at the Palm Beach Gardens Invitational.

Village Academy 91, Palm Beach Central 87: Michael Wesley scored 29 points and Keion Tyson added 26, helping the Tigers outlast the Cobras (6-7) at the John I. Leonard Basketball Classic in Greenacres. The Tigers will face John I. Leonard in the championship at 6 tonight.

John I. Leonard 87, West Boca Raton 71: Mario Saunders and Rashad Grover each scored 24 points and Remone Birch added 23 as the Lancers (5-7) edged the Bulls at the John I. Leonard Basketball Classic.

Wellington 54, Park Vista 51: Yephnick Adelphonse scored 13 points and Christian Brown added 10, but the Cobras (8-6) fell to the Wolverines at the Park Vista Holiday Classic in Lake Worth. The Cobras will face Summit Christian at 7:30 tonight.

Summit Christian 56, Martin County 50: Josue Levy had 22 points and Richard Gaetano added 17 points to lead the Saints past the Tigers (12-2) at the Park Vista Holiday Classic in Boynton Beach.

Inlet Grove 51, Seminole Ridge 43: Robinson Julien scored 14 points and Junior Bellegarde added 10 points and eight rebounds to lead the Hurricanes (5-8) over the Hawks in Loxahatchee.

Spanish River 68, American Heritage 41: Brandon Kenmerer had 24 points and 18 rebounds, leading the Sharks (10-3) to the rout of the Stallions at the Spanish River New Year's Bash in Boca Raton. A.J. Garson scored 16 points for the Stallions. The Sharks will face Loyola (N.Y.) in the championship at 6 tonight.

St. Andrew's 68, Loyola (N.Y.) 34: Marco Radojicic had 17 points and nine rebounds and George Andino also scored 17 points, leading the Scots (11-1) to the easy victory late Wednesday in Boca Raton. Uri Rahimi made four 3-pointers and contributed 14 points for St. Andrew's.

GIRLS

Palm Beach Gardens 62, Martin County 54: Kayla Brown had 18 points and seven rebounds and Brigitte Zavithsanos added nine points and 11 assists to lead the Gators (10-8) over the Tigers in Palm Beach Gardens.

Suncoast 74, Park Vista 65: Daisiah Akbar had 27 points and five steals and Chakari Merritt added 14 points and nine rebounds to lead the Chargers (7-7) over the Cobras at the Park Vista Holiday Classic in Boynton Beach. The Chargers advance to face Riverview at noon today.

John I. Leonard 43, Village Academy 32: Joshelle Birch had 18 points and Katelyn King added 11 rebounds to lead the Lancers (5-8) past the Tigers at the John I. Leonard Basketball Classic in Greenacres. The Lancers will face Olympic Heights in the championship at 3 p.m. today.

Lake Worth Christian 41, Summit Christian 31: Jessica Golden had 19 points and Irvine Agaya added 10 to lead the Defenders (8-8) past the Saints (3-4) at the Lake Worth Christian Holiday Tournament in Lake Worth. The Defenders will play in the championship game against Marathon at 6 tonight.

Marathon 60, Oxbridge Academy 40: Nicole Dixon scored 26 points and Tahira McDaniel added eight points, but the Thunderwolves (10-5) fell to the Dolphins at the Lake Worth Christian Holiday Tournament. The Thunderwolves will play Summit Christian at 4 p.m. today.
