Congratulations to Katy, Kirstin and Skyler and the rest of the PV girls for winning last nights game. Not only did they have to beat a tough Lacrosse team in Cardinal Gibbons but also, inconsistent, over the top, one sided officiating. Although there are a few excellent girls lacrosse officials in the local association, many do not belong officiating at the varsity level.I know that it isn't an easy task to be a High School sports official but it is not difficult to call a game consistently and fairly. I understand the hard work and dedication it takes to be a quality Varsity level official. The level of officiating in girls Lacrosse in our area is not at the level it needs to be . Varsity Girls lacrosse oficials are paid very well for their time ($65/game). That works out to better than $30/hour!! The girls Lacrosse programs in our area deserve much better. I for one want to be part of the solution and will be doing my part to do something about it. I will be signing up to become a girls lacrosse official and work very hard to increase the level of officiating that the girls lacrosse programs in our area truly deserve. After all we can not voice our displeasure, if we aren't willing to step up and work, to be part of the solution versus sitting idly by and doing nothing. Who will join me??
