Before moving on to George Washington University, where she will play water polo and study history or political science, Meg Brolley left a lasting impression at St. Andrew's, especially on its water polo record books.

Not only did Brolley set a record with 87 goals in a season, she set another by scoring 12 goals in the Scots' 27-7 district semifinal victory over Spanish River.

And in the district final, Brolley scored eight more goals to lead the Scots in their 20-3 rout of Boca Raton.

Eventual repeat champion Miami Ransom Everglades stopped the Scots in a state quarterfinal.

"We put our best game in the water, but it just didn't happen for us," Brolley said. "It was disappointing, but I was really happy with the way the season turned out."

Brolley - who was a member of the inaugural St. Andrew's water polo team when she was in seventh grade - said it was the team's dedication and camaraderie that made this season rewarding and fun for the Scots.

"We love each other so much as a group that we wanted to stay with it to be with each other," she said. "When you look at how well we did and how much we grew together, it all balances out."

Brolley will reunite with her teammates one more time before going to college. Several of them will represent the U.S. Southeast in the Junior Olympics in August in Los Angeles.
