BOYS SCHOLAR ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

GAGE BATTEN, DWYER

GPA/ 3.75, 4.33.

Academic accomplishments: Distinguished AP Scholar, National Honor Society member with 390 hours of community service with the Heath Evans Foundation, a non-profit aimed at ending childhood sexual abuse. He was in the top 10 percent of his class and was a Pathfinder Nominee. Turned down Harvard and Yale to attend Auburn's honors college and walk on to the football team.

Athletic accomplishments: Post All-Area first team, team captain in 2011; Post All-Area first-team in 2010 at King's Academy. Led Dwyer in tackles in 2011 and was play-caller at middle linebacker for area's most dominant defense. Helped team win District 13-7A title and advance to regional finals.

College: Auburn.

Field of study: Double major in pre-med (orthopedics) and business.

Athletic director's take: "I think it's fantastic any time you can excel in more than one area. The kid works hard at everything he does. His accomplishments speak for themselves. GIRLS SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE YEAR

TAYLOR COGSIL, BENJAMIN

GPA (weighted/unweighted): 4.39ȀA/ȀA4.0

Academic accomplishments: Class salutatorian and FHSAA All-State Academic team member who scored a 5 on five different Advanced Placement tests (Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Chemistry, Language and Composition and U.S. History). Won President's Education Award for academic excellence and school's Buccaneer Award as a senior. As a sophomore and junior, was recognized by Benjamin faculty as student with most overall academic achievement.

Athletic accomplishments: She was a track district champion in four events: 100-meter hurdles, 300-meter hurdles, triple jump and pole vault. As a senior, she placed ninth at the Class 1A state meet in the 100-meter hurdles and pole vault. She was a three-year state qualifier in cross- country and reached the regional final with the soccer team her sophomore, junior and senior years. Also was a regional diving qualifier as a freshman.

College: Yale University

Field of study: Will major in pre-med (biology or chemistry). Wants to be a surgeon.

She is one of those unique individuals who can combine and achieve at the highest levels in her academic studies, athletic interests and commitment to community service. AMERICAN HERITAGE

Megan Campbell

She was a starter on three state championship soccer teams. She was also a National Honor Society, Student Government and National English Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society member. Had a 5.17 GPA.

Adam McIntosh

Was a part of state championship soccer teams in 2007 and 2011. He was a four-year Key Club member, three-year National English Honor Society and National Honor Society member with a 5.08 GPA.

ATLANTIC

Helena Cheslack

Four-year letter winner in cross-country and soccer had 4.0 GPA and was ranked fourth in senior class. International Baccalaureate diploma candidate and will attend U.S. Naval Academy.

Luke Jeske

Made all-conference in cross- country and track past three years. International Baccalaureate diploma candidate has 3.97 GPA, ranked in top 5 percent of senior class.

BENJAMIN

Joey Raso

Varsity letterman in football and lacrosse was senior class treasurer with 4.08 GPA. National Honor Society member was tutor at upper and lower schools. Will attend University of Pennsylvania.

BOYNTON BEACH

Taylor Shade

A basketball star who will play at Florida International, she was an All-State selection and two-time first-team Post All-Area selection as well as the team MVP three years in a row. She was an all-state flag football player and a Post All-Area selection. She had a 3.59 GPA and ranked in the top 5 percent of her class.

Audrey Dieujuste

A football captain playing fullback and linebacker, he was an All-State team member, first-team All-Area selection and a Florida Coaches Athletic Association All-Star in his senior season. He placed fifth in the state in his weight class for weight lifting. He ranked in the top 5 percent of his class, earned a 3.28 GPA and accepted a football scholarship to Bucknell.

CARDINAL NEWMAN

Emily Griffin

A first-team all-district selection for lacrosse, she is a member of the Key Club, National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society with a 3.77 GPA. She will attend Syracuse.

Jason Ballestero

A defensive lineman, he was a Post All-Area selection in his junior and senior seasons. He was also a standout lacrosse player. He has a 4.08 weighted GPA and will attend Florida State.

DREYFOOS

Rachel Anderson

A senior captain for cross-country and track, she was a three-year letter winner for both. She had a 4.0 GPA and 5.07 HPA and was a Pathfinder Award winner.

Marlowe Brand

Brand, a senior, was a strong member of the golf team with a 3.66 GPA and a 4.22 HPA.

DWYER

Vanessa Ucelo

A letter winner in track and a rugby club member, she ranked third in her class and had a 4.90 cumulative HPA and 3.97 cumulative GPA. She is a Distinguished AP Scholar and a National Honor Society member as well as a member of Dwyer's Senior Hall of Fame.

FOREST HILL

Leah Parker

A junior, she was first-team all-conference in soccer and flag football and a member of the bowling team. She finished her junior year with a 3.67 GPA and ranked in the top 10 percent of her class in sophomore and junior years.

GLADES DAY

Brianna Lohmann

A Post All-Area selection in soccer and softball, she was her senior class valedictorian, National Honor Society president, student council treasurer and a Pathfinder nominee with a 4.43 GPA. She will attend Dartmouth, where she will play softball and study law.

Landon McDuffie

A lineman on the Gators' perennially powerful football team as well as a soccer goalie, he carried a 3.69 GPA and was a member of the National Honor Society. He won grand champion in Showmanship at the South Florida Fair and will major in agriculture at Louisiana State University.

GRANDVIEW PREP

Jane Pomerenke Sallen

Ace of Pride's Class 2A state champion softball team, she was voted Class 2A state MVP and MVP of the swim team. She has a 3.98 GPA and is class valedictorian and class president as well as a Bright Futures scholar, Wellesley Book Award winner and NHS, Dean's List and BETA Club member.

Alex Joseph Stettner

A pitcher, he has a baseball scholarship to the University of North Florida. He is senior class vice president, carries a 4.48 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, BETA Club, Key Club and Dean's List.

JOHN I. LEONARD

Tess Affholder

A National Honor Society member with a 3.8 GPA, senior was a four-year member of the tennis team and two-time all-conference selection. She also played soccer.

Ariel Casas

Three-year baseball letter winner was starting catcher as a senior. National Honor Society member with a 3.8 GPA.

JUPITER

Shelby Pearce

Swam five events for the Warriors, was a district champion, two-time state finalist and a three-time state qualifier. School record in 200 medley relay is ranked 16th in her class with a 4.0 GPA, a 5.2 HPA and has a Coast Guard scholarship in mechanical engineering.

Marlon Murasko

A four-year district and regional finalist swimmer, he was a state qualifier as a senior. He ranked fifth in his senior class with a 4.0 GPA, was a Pathfinder Nominee and a National Merit Scholar. He plans to study pre-med at the University of Florida.

JUPITER CHRISTIAN

Jenna Carlyle

Volleyball and lacrosse player with 4.4 GPA made Southeast Super Regional Team and won JCS Lady of Valor award. Pathfinder nominee and member of National Honor Society, JCS All-Academic Team and honor roll.

Troy Katterheinrich

Set golf school records and was individual district champion. Member of district champion tennis team. Pathfinder nominee had 4.4 GPA and was member of NHS, JCS All-Academic team and Principal's List.

KING'S ACADEMY

Emily Cardinal

Starter on volleyball team and track and field competitor in the hurdles, high jump, 800- and 1,600-meter runs, she made Dean's List every semester of her high school career and finished with a 4.3 GPA.

Ryan Larson

Two-year varsity letter winner in basketball, he made the Dean's List every semester of his high school career, was class salutatorian and a National Merit Scholar finalist. He carried a 4.6 GPA.

LAKE WORTH CHRISTIAN

Mackenzie Morrell

An All-Area softball selection who lettered in volleyball and cheerleading, she was named Lake Worth Christian Athlete of the Year by the school. She has a 3.3 GPA.

Jordany Dominique

A basketball standout with a 3.4 GPA, he was named to the Adidas All-Tournament team and played in the Palm Beach County All-Star Game. He won his school's Norm Teitsma award for academics, athletics and leadership.

OLYMPIC HEIGHTS

Deanna Abbruzese

Played four years on soccer team and was two-year captain. Set school record for most assists in a season. Also played three years of flag football. She was in the top 5 percent of her class and had a 4.27 GPA, was a four-year Principal's Award winner and an AP Scholar award winner. She will study engineering at Florida.

Jakub Ciesla

A first-team All-Area selection for boys volleyball, he carried a 3.8 GPA and will attend California State University at Northridge.

PALM BEACH CENTRA

Lauren Castillo

A junior, she was National Honor Society secretary with a 3.73 GPA and a state qualifier for cross-country who placed 13th at regionals. Also ran track and played lacrosse.

PALM BEACH GARDENS

Nikki Gregory

A National Honor Society member in the top 5 percent of her class, she had a 3.78 GPA and was a four-year varsity player in cross-country, soccer and tennis, as well as a captain and regional qualifier in all three.

Conner Dalton

He was a four-year member of the volleyball team and a captain. He had a 3.68 GPA and was a National Honor Society member ranked in the top 5 percent of his senior class.

PALM BEACH LAKES

Shamaz Quince

The Post's track athlete of the year, she was county champion in the 100 and 300 hurdles and triple jump, won bronze at Class 3A state meet in triple jump. She also played basketball, ranked in the top 5 percent of her class and was a Who's Who Academic All-America with a 3.4 GPA.

Maxwell Caines

A second-team Post All-Area selection in basketball, the junior was a track letterman and ranked in the top 10 percent as a ninth-grader. He was an honor-roll selection in ninth grade.

PARK VISTA

Kathryn Richardson

Lacrosse midfielder and soccer goalie was Vice President of Social Studies Honor Society, Florida Girl State Delegate and National Honor Society member with 4.3 GPA. Received a $20,000 scholarship from Palm Beach County Community Foundation. Signed lacrosse scholarship with Adelphi University.

Robert Coman

Signed baseball scholarship with University of Virginia. Was district and regional champion in golf. Had 4.4 GPA and was Pathfinder nominee, member of Psychology Club, Math Honor Society and National Honor Society.

POPE JOHN PAUL II

Maiti Dages

A captain and Coaches Award winner for volleyball and soccer, she had a 4.91 GPA and was National Honor Society vice president as a junior and president as a senior. She was also an AP Scholar and an Academic Achievement Award winner in biology, Spanish and religion.

Julian Loreti

He was Pope's Senior Scholar-Athlete Award winner after being a football and soccer captain and winning Most Improved in tennis. Won the Wendy's High School Heisman Award. Had a 4.28 GPA.

ROYAL PALM BEACH

Brianna Alex

A first-team all-conference softball player and coach's leadership award winner, she was also a National Honor Society member with a 3.29 GPA and 3.8 HPA. Will attend the University of Central Florida.

William (Teddy) Matthews

A first-team Post All-Area linebacker and track honorable mention, he signed a football scholarship with Wake Forest. Matthews was a Pathfinder nominee, Student Council and National Honor Society member with a 3.7 GPA.

ST. ANDREW'S

Ana Keusch

Salutatorian and Pathfinder nominee was awarded St. Andrew's Medal, the school's highest honor for a senior. Maintained 4.51 GPA while captaining soccer team. Was four-year varsity player and member of 2009 state champions. Will play soccer at Yale.

Stephen Ledniczky

Won school's Tri-Sport Award for lettering in cross-country, wrestling and track. Finished 13th at state in cross-country and advanced to regionals in wrestling. Had 4.06 GPA and will be attending University of Wisconsin.

SANTALUCES

Miriam Pierre

Senior class president was a LINKS student mentor with a 3.8 GPA. She was a four-sport captain in volleyball, basketball, track and flag football. She won gold medals at the Class 4A state meet in the shot put her junior and senior years. She will attend FIU on a track scholarship.

Soniel Estime

A senior with a 3.1 GPA, he lettered in football, track and volleyball and was a LINKS student mentor. Estime led the Chiefs in tackles (98) and was defensive MVP as a safety in his senior year. He will attend Illinois State on a football scholarship.

SEMINOLE RIDGE

Cayla Amatulli

The Post's girls weight lifter of the year as a junior (co-lifter) and senior, she placed second in the state meet at 101 pounds and was a district champion as a senior. She carries a 3.64 GPA/4.0 HPA, is a Pathfinder nominee, and a biotech academy and National Honor Society member ranked in the top 10 percent of her class.

Alexander Santacroce

An all-conference and first-team Post All-Area tight end, he was also a district champion. He has a 3.58 GPA, is in the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and National Science Honor Society and is ranked in the top 10 percent of the senior class.

SPANISH RIVER

Hanna Kivisto

A two-year cheerleading captain, she had a 4.0 GPA and 5.14 HPA, was a National AP Scholar, a National Merit Scholar. She was also Florida's DECA vice president, Spanish River's Entrepreneurial Academy student of the year and was secretary of the National Chinese Honor Society.

Nick French

He qualified for state in cross-country and track and carried a 3.96 GPA and 5.17 HPA.

SUNCOAST

Amber Braun

A two-year softball captain who led Palm Beach County in batting average (.636) her senior year, she was Suncoast's Pathfinder nominee and International Baccalaureate diploma candidate with a 3.85 GPA and 5.7 HPA (top 98 percent in county). Also was part of district-title teams in bowling and soccer.

Gregory Poore

Four-year baseball letterwinner and senior captain was a dual enrollee in math, science and engineering program and I.B. program. Won first place in Medicine and Health category at Palm Beach County Regional Science Fair and second place in same category at Florida State Science Fair. Carries 4.0 GPA and 5.27 HPA.

VILLAGE ACADEMY

Ingide Ossirus

A junior with a 3.8 GPA and National Honor Society member, she was a starter on the basketball and volleyball teams and qualified for Class 1A track regionals in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dash.

Dooley Gabriel

A three-year starter on both sides of the line for the Tigers' football team, he carried a 3.0 GPA and scored a 22 on his ACT. He will attend Earlham College.

WELLINGTON

Caitlin McNally

Lettered in cross-country, track and weight lifting and was a Sam Budnyk Scholar-Athlete finalist. Member of National Honor Society, Chemistry Honor Society and winner of AP Scholar Award and Wellesley College Book award. Carried a 4.0 GPA.

Daniel Collin Bachi

Four-year member of the wrestling team was conference champion, county champion and district runner-up as a senior. Bachi, who graduated with a 3.9 GPA, was a National Merit Award semifinalist and a Pathfinder nominee.

WELLINGTON CHRISTIAN

Courtney Allen-Perrault

A four-year basketball player and member of the volleyball and softball teams, she won the basketball team's Eagle Award. She carried a 4.0 GPA and was National Honor Society treasurer, class Vice President and won the President's Award for academic excellence. Will attend Central Florida.

Dustin Goff

Baseball captain and letterman in soccer and golf, he won the Golden Eagle Award. Was class chaplain, National Honor Society member and won President's Award for academic excellence. Will attend the University of North Carolina-Wilmington.

WEST BOCA RATON

Mary Trebitz

Led girls basketball and flag football teams to district championships as a senior. Went to state as a bowler as a junior. Had 3.7 GPA/4.43 HPA and was Pathfinder winner and Academic Honors Diploma winner.

Austin Sowers

Football quarterback and lacrosse defender was Pathfinder nominee, Army Scholar-Athlete selection and Academic Honors Diploma winner with 3.74 GPA/4.28 HPA. Accepted to University of Florida and wants to enter medical school.

There are many school and collgee which offer CNA you can compare them. CNA training that lasts from 6 to 12 weeks is typically conducted in community collgees, schools, or medical facilities. The programs cover relevant topics such as basic anatomy, physiology, nutrition, proper body mechanics, infection control, and basic nursing skills. The subjects are often taught by licensed practical nurses or by registered nurses. During the course of the training, you will learn lots of skills necessary for the occupation. You will also be required to have clinical externship that has a total duration of 72 hours.
