Glades Central 31, American Heritage-Plantation 19: Rowley throws for three TDs

Saturday, November 27, 2010
by Ross Devonport

For the second straight year, Glades Central ended American Heritage-Plantation's season as senior quarterback Jamarious Rowley threw three touchdowns and the Glades Central defense forced five turnovers for a 31-19 victory in the Class 2A regional final on Friday night.

Just like in the 2009 victory when the Raiders (10-1) racked up 500-plus yards and five touchdowns through the air, they used the pass to good effect again on Friday night, as Rowley threw for nearly 300 yards and junior wide receiver Jamie Wilson went for 126 yards and a touchdown.

The Patriots (7-5) found themselves down 21-6 at the half, but got an early third-quarter touchdown run from freshman phenom Sony Michel to pull within eight.

The score remained that way until midway through the fourth when Raiders kicker Marvin McKenzie booted a key 24-yard field goal to put his team up by two scores, a margin from which the Patriots could not recover.

Glades Central will play at Tampa-Robinson in next week's Class 2A state semifinal.

Outstanding job Raiders! Like $LAYLOW_561$ said, you must play mistake free football in the next round. The higher you get in the playoffs, you must execute better, eliminate the penalties and play with more DISCIPLINE.

I hope that everyone on the MUCK is supportive of the Raiders and those BullDogs on the other end of the city. The MUCK is know, "around the world" for outstanding football. How do I know this? I'm in Afghanistan and whenever I meet someone and tell them I'm from Pahokee, they know about the football there on the MUCK.

Go support those two schools that are out there on the quest for state championships. Glades Day is trying to repeat and I wish them well too.

Again, good job Glade Central and place GOD in your mist, you will reach your goal.
