Palm Beach Post Staff Reports

Abby Jo Winsor had seven digs and seven service points as second-ranked Wellington swept Pope John Paul II 25-15, 25-15 in their second match of the day at the Palm Beach Classic on Friday.

Earlier, Chiara Mazzola had nine service points, seven digs and five kills to lead Wellington (9-0) to a 25-10, 25-10 rout of Summit Christian.

Cardinal Newman earns split: Keelin Severtson had 10 kills, three aces and two blocks and Caroline Gardner added five kills and six blocks helping the Crusaders (5-8) split their two matches at the Palm Beach Classic at Pope John Paul II. Newman was edged by Palm Beach Gardens 25-23, 25-23 before sweeping Miami-Southwest 25-17, 25-18.

Royal Palm Beach sweeps: The Wildcats improved to 11-4 with two victories at the Palm Beach Classic in Boca Raton. Shelby Salamone had nine service points and three aces and Keirsten Abedell added 13 service points and one ace as the Wildcats (10-4) beat Miami-Southwest 25-19, 25-11. Salamone had 23 service points and seven digs and Bayley Cook added seven kills and four digs, helping the Wildcats rally for a 21-25, 25-17, 15-11 victory over Palm Beach Gardens.

Palm Beach Central sweeps: Danielle Voloender had 17 service points and seven digs and Kristen Voloender added five kills and 13 digs as the Broncos (7-8) beat American Heritage 25-8, 19-25, 16-14 at the Palm Beach Classic in Greenacres. Earlier Friday, Emily Sierra had 12 service points and five aces and Alondra Melendez had seven service points and six aces as the Broncos (6-8) swept Lake Worth 25-9, 25-3.

King's Academy swept: Grace Evans had eight digs and five service points, but the Lions (7-5) dropped their second match of the day - 25-23, 25-19 to Coral Springs - at the Palm Beach Classic in Lake Worth. Earlier, Kathleen Wiggs had seven kills and Michela Diddle had seven service points and four kills, but the Lionsfell to Atlantic 25-18, 25-19.

No. 1 Martin County earns split in Chicago:Nicole Walch had 24 kills and 10 digs and Mallori Moffat added 35 assists as the Tigers (12-2) defeated Nazareth (Ill.) 25-19, 19-25, 25-19 at the Asics Challenge in Chicago.

In Martin County's second match, Walch recorded 18 kills and six digs and Madisen Lydon had six kills and seven digs but the Tigers fell to host Mother McAuley 25-21, 25-19,

Morningside Academy d. Wellington Christian 25-15, 25-16, 25-14: Sarah Best had 12 service points and Gabby Biernat added 10, but Wellington Christian (3-6) fell to Morningside Academy in Wellington.

Jupiter Christian d. Berean Christian 25-6, 25-17, 25-20: Jenna Carlyle had eight aces and 15 service points and Natalie Dunlay added 14 service points and seven digs as the Eagles (9-6) swept the Bulldogs in West Palm Beach.

FYI - the gametimes posted in today's paper for the PB Classic are incorrect, as are some of the matchups. Anyone reading this, please check with your coaches
