Dwyer 43, Hollywood Hills 0: McClaine runs for four TDs as Panthers advance in 4A

Hollywood Hills controlled the ball, but host Dwyer controlled the scoreboard in the Panthers' 43-0 rout in a Class 4A regional semifinal Friday.

Next Friday, the Panthers (11-1) travel to Palm Bay for a regional final. Palm Bay advanced with a 27-14 victory over New Smyrna Beach on Friday night

Dwyer senior Shawn McClaine rushed for four touchdowns, including three on his first four carries, as the Panthers' economical offense needed only 10 plays from scrimmage to build a 29-0 halftime lead.

"Shawn made some people miss and that was the key for our offense," Panthers coach Jack Daniels said.

On McClaine's final touchdown, he bounced off one potential tackler, then spun past another before breaking free for a 50-yard score. He finished with 164 yards on eight carries.

The Spartans (7-5) ran 50 plays, 35 of them in the first half, for 148 yards, but never got closer to the end zone than the Panthers' 27 yard-line.

"We weren't trying to get quick scores because we were trying to get some people some rest," Daniels said, "but I'll take our 10 plays because they (the Spartans ) didn't get any points."

Senior quarterback Jacoby Brissett completed 7-of-12 passes for 142 yards, including touchdown tosses of 11 yards to senior Darrell Hunter and 13 yards to freshman Clinton Stephens.

"We just didn't play well," Hollywood Hills coach Scott Barnwell said. "We weren't able to execute our game plan the way we wanted to."

The Panthers (11-1) also took advantage of two Spartans turnovers.

The Spartans had moved close to midfield on their third possession, but senior tight end Andres Larrieu fumbled after catching a short pass. Panthers sophomore Robert Moss scooped up the loose ball and returned it inside the 1-yard line. McClaine scored on the next play.

On their next possession, the Spartans moved to the Panthers' 40, but senior Darrell Hunter intercepted a pass at the 20.

It didn't take Brissett long to lead the Panthers down the field. He connected with senior Tommylee Lewis for a 27-yard pass, then hit Hunter for a 42-yard gain and an 11-yard touchdown .

Hey CLB [C]rybaby who probably [L]ost [B]ig): There is not need to shout (capital letters). Looks like you or your team has already played its last game. Blaytant, these are the playoffs. Dwyer can't help the fact that local teams are not on their competive level. If you are a coach go develope your team like coach D has. More than likely, you are a local and should be rooting for your fellow PBC team. It's really shameful to have your attitude. If my team were out, I would would wish all of my locals well. What's wrong with you guys??? Geezzz!!!!

I have been waiting for someone to at least give this team a game for two years. Listen, if Palm Bay can make it competitive great. Saying that they will win is a stretch. They let up 14 points last week. Dwyer has let up 10 in the last six. So if you are a Palm Bay fan the most you should hope for is no running clock
