I have got to chime in here. First off, someone said that the referees should go back to Pee Wee Football. Hey don't do that to those kids. Just awful officiating: Two scores called non touchdowns, perhaps a third. Note to ESPN: The catch that was a non-touchdown, was the best catch I have seen all weekend, bar none. The jumping, twisting, acrobatic catch was simply, the #1 play of the day. Just awful. I do hope Kirk Herbstreit comes out on College Game Day, along with Lee Corso, and talk about this. Remember, Dwyer had a 31 game winning streak on the line that was snapped because of the referees. High school rules stipulate that a receiver has to have one foot in bounds, as well as the college and Canadian game. In the NO Fun League, you have to have two feet in bounds. That kid was good in all of those leagues: He had a knee and an elbow down. Folks that counts as three parts of the body. From what I understand, A knee counts as two feet. Then there was the elbow. There was no juggling of the ball either. What was the line judge thinking. Also, where was the back judge. I never seen him on that call. It was his call and he was nowhere to be found. This is another reason why I think there should be a Side Judge and a field judge added to the crew. I know that North Carolina does this only in the playoffs. Should be done in every game. Especially one nationally televised. Dwyer, don't hang your heads. Coach Daniels, your kids played great!

If Maggit does not do a nose dive into the end zone and cause a penalty so that we can't kick the ball out of the end zone away from the player coach danials said he was most afraid of our defense stops Glenville then and we win the game. Blame show boating as much as the refs for the loss.

I knew that the refs were crooked when they called the unsportsman like on the dive into the end zone. That wasn't excessive celebration, itg was making sure he got in. And he didn't do anything excessive after the TD. The result was a 15 yard penalty that allowed the Ohio team to run back a kick off for 6. Then, of course, the worst officiating I've ever seen in the last couple of minutes

Panthers you should be proud..I was blessed to watch the game in person and yes the referees made some really bad calls......but I must agree the hot dogging in the end zone cost us...COMPOSURE ALWAYS! Special Teams. The kicker Bobby is great. Attention to detail. DO NOT SHOW BOAT. PENALTIES LIKE THAT COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU. They score and take the wind out of us. I also agree that it was not super excessive..but todays game is treated so differently. Anyway, I was sooooooooooooooooo disappointed and totally agree that these referees should be banned for at least a year it was pathetic. Hang tough Panthers....great game.

You have to remember that, on a passing play, you must have one foot on the ground for a TD. You can be in the air on a running play leaping. Furthemore, this is football not Rugby, forward progress are in there to prevent injury to the kids. When whistle is blow you can not push the pile for a score.

,,in spite of the announcers' southern bias they only commented on one camera view that clearly showied the recievers knee touching in bounds; they ignored the other view showing his arm and ball on the side line--no view showed which occurred first. Sooo, monents later with the ball on the one yard line Dwyer runs 1 QB sneak against a defensive line that outweighd them nearly 50 lbs per man. That should have been the end of the game, but the clock didn't start. So with a huge GIFT of another play some brillant play caller reached into the playbook and pulled out the same play. Southern speed into a brick wall.
Perhaps had Dywer traveled without 19 coaches but more than their 2 deep they could have gotten outside the wide bodies rooted on the goal line

If Glenville played Dwyer 10 times on a neutral field, Dwyer wins 7 or 8 times. Extremely impressed with QB, TE. They would do quite well in Ohio. Dwyer yesterday however was hurt by their own penalty totals. They play a little cleaner in execution, maybe the end doesnt happen.
In being objective, I believe the best way to think about comparing HS football between states is that in big schools, the top 10 would break about even across the board from state to state year to year. If you think your state is better, fine. Not worth arguing over, because impossible to know.
I also hate OSU and hope that the Bugeyes get their azzes whupped by the Canes. Nobody plays the woulda coulda shoulda like the Bugeye Nation.

Both defensive lines played great the entire game. Penalties killed Dwyer plain and simple. Almost every game in Highschool WILL have Officiating issues, as this one surely did in the end. Being the young men played on a National stage right out of the gate will speak volumes to their season the rest of 2010! I see Dwyer heading right back to the Play - off again this year !!!!! First, the refs absolutely blew the calls but blame yourself for showboating. Whether or not you think the endzone dive warranted a flag is insignificant. If you don't do it, you have no chance of being flagged.
Second, the ref that threw the flag in the '02 National Championship game was not a Big Ten ref, although I'm sure it's easy for everyone in Hurricane country to accept that as true. The fact is that the ref was from the SEC...closer to Miami than to Ohio. And by the way, had a horribly blatant pass interference BEEN CALLED with just a few minutes left in regulation, that game never goes to overtime and the Buckeyes win anyway. Go back and watch it. The announcers are beside themselves that the interference wasn't called. The late flag in OT was a make-up call even though it WAS legitimate.
Third, election corruption IN OHIO???!!! Jeb's state created the worst election corruption in U.S. history to get his brother elected in 2000. Republican districts in Ohio had their own problems with corruption in helping to get Bush elected as well, the scope & depth of which we will probably never know, but who could forget Florida's "hanging chads"?
Last, get over it. Just like in '02, if Florida was sooooooo much better than Ohio, then they would blow Ohio out. As it stands, they were in a dogfight 8 years ago, yesterday, and they will be again this Saturday. Just accept it, Ohio owns South Florida. And don't even start with the Gator crap because you can't be a fan of both. You're either SoFlo or you're a Gator. You can't be both. Let's just hope yesterday's refs combine with the '02 championship refs to officiate this Saturday at the Shoe!
And if this little rant has you p-ssed off right now, get a grip! "Those poor kids" will get over it. Stop living and dying by a stupid football game. That was the best home cookin' I've seen since Munich 1972 when the refs put time back on the clock twice allowing Russia three chances to cheat a win vs. the US in Olympic basketball. Anyone who watches the video can clearly see how unjust this game was. What a total shame and disgrace for the host team. To be given the win by the refs and not earn the win is no win at all. How did this turn into a debate about the U or OSU or anyone but Dwyer's game Sunday? Some great example you all are setting for these kids. *sigh*
Sure, Dwyer had penalties, and I am hoping they will learn the lessons to be learned from their mistakes. But this is also about bad officiating, and how two clear TD's were denied, causing the Panthers to lose the game. If the ref had just looked at Lewis' uniform after the endzone catch, he should have seen the paint indicating he had been inbounds, not out. I'm still trying to figure out how they didn't give the last push to the end zone TD to the Panthers.
Another lesson I hope the kids take away from this is good sportsmanship. It was uncalled for for the winning team to taunt the Dwyer kids the way they did at the end of the game. What happened to sportsmanship? When the final whistle blows, you shake hands, congratulate the other team on having a great game/putting up a good fight, and go to your locker room. You don't stand in another players face and mock him or taunt him. If I was their coach, i would be embarrassed, and would be sitting them all down before practice today to have a long talk about how to play clean AND with class.
Congratulations to Dwyer...you guys did a GREAT job and made all of us proud. We all know you won--the guys on ESPN know you won. Now go out and win your way to a State Championship!
PS: C'mon Slink. Dwyer isn't the hood, and this is the Post's website. Use proper english.

If ESPN wants to match up the top high school teams, ESPN should sign up the top game officials.
On one hand, if Florida teams are expected to play away games against a home team and home officials, maybe Florida teams should say 'Thanks, but no, thanks."
OTOH Dwyer never would have had a chance to score the second overlooked touchdown if the bonehead officials had started the game clock at 32 seconds for the play that got Dwyer down near the goal line: an untimed running play!!!

Despite the result, it was an outstanding day for Dwyer. Imagine, some of the guys had never even flown on a plane. The entire commmunity came together to support the effort. The crowd at Duffy's was unbelievable. The team played well and made us prowd. Other coaches in this district came to our defense. This is an outstanding program that creates great opportunities its players. Period.

This may be sad to some but this game really bothered me all night. Just to know the whole world saw this game and what a let down that was for these kids. Its sad to know that a wrong was done and there's no way to correct it even though there were thousands of witnesses. Sad that the refs thought this one game was worth them losing their jobs or at least being suspended...just sad. To Glenville, a win by cheating is not a win at all and have fun walking around with that guilt and Dwyer's win because each one of you all know that was a lost. For everyone saying the 2nd td wouldnt have counted if the clock had started on the last play...THE 2ND TD WOULDNT HAVE BEEN NEEDED IF THE 1ST ONE WAS CALLED RIGHT...that child was clearly in the end zone...knee down...elbow down...come on. This was reckless and intentional. As I screamed knowing that the game was won the refs had that lets just let the clock run out look on their faces. This is a shame and a scam. I attended Pahokee High as a student however I always support Florida teams. This loss should be deleted from the record books at a mimimum and dwyer should jump ahead of them in the national polls. As an Ohio State fan and football fan living here in florida I watched the Dwyer football team play their hearts out and then get robbed by the officials. That end zone throw and catch was worthy of the pros. Dwyer represented Florida in and outstanding manner and is the true winners in this mess.

Occasional bad officiating is a part of the game - but it doesn't have to be. That being said, I would sit those officials down for a game or two, and then have them finish out the season on the junior varsity schedule - and then, have them complete additional special training before they are allowed to work a varsity high school football game again. But, as I said, it's a part of the game. Go Panthers!

To all of the local people, even those from other schools, who expressed their outrage at the terrible officiating of this game, thank you so much. Dwyer went to Ohio to represent Palm Beach County and the state of Florida and they had the game stolen from them. Dwyer, you played a great game. Wish you could have seen the crowd at Duffy's that came to show their support. We were all there with you in spirit, and you made us so proud. As for you "Buckeyes" you are showing your ignorance just like your Ohio officials. Your team showed a total lack of class just as you did in your posts. The Glenville players also showed their lack of class at the end of the game, and their total lack of sportsmanship. You Reggie Bush with no values like many of your brothers now think with corrupt officiating believe Glenville was the better team. The 'A' rated Dwyer school is so far superior!!! Like my cousin who for 12 years has taught the sciences in the Cleveland HS district knows the brothers there that many are so stupid you just about have to put the answers on the board for them to pass. I wonder how many who attend Glenville will see jail time? What % graduate from all black Glenville HS in four years? What % from Glenville HS go to top rated 100 college (US News annual showing) and graduate? Less than 15%.
Dwyer go forward and stay focus. Work on a few things and maybe get a true center.
We for years have been proud of Dwyer's success and their fine administrators.

Hey "buckeyes earned it again": you're a moron. I am a Univ. of Florida alum that lives in South Florida...so, I can very well be a Gator fan and root for South Florida teams. That's why it's called Gator NATION, numbskull! That's the same Gators that cleaned OSU's clock in the national championship with Chris Leak at QB! Chris Leak?!? Chris Leak who shredded the OSU defense. Then, came the basketball thumpin' the Gators put on OSU in that championship game...Greg, who?!? Do you guys have any other 'i"s you need the Gators to dot? Heard on TV that the Cleveland Dealer sport writers said the REFS at the game were horrible. ' Dwyer should have won'. Even the TV announcers said the replay of a pass in the end zone was a TD.

,,sure were bad calls, with the last 2 play calls were the worst; unbelievable. With 350 pound road graders over the center, call a QB sneak. Coach was worried about the Northern speed outside. Brilliant; out muscle when out weighed by 50 pounds per man with kids from the neigborhoods. He made a statement with his call; and lost.
Looks like some team disipline training, as well play selection refresher is in store for the coaching staff; or continue to blame the officials.

As an alumnus of Glenville H.S. who was at the game yesterday in Columbus, it was a hard fought competition by two extremely talented teams, we were extremely impressed by your Tight End (#34 O'Leary) your Quarterback (Brissett #12) is a "Beast", and other than our own Shayne Wynn (#4) your running back #2 (sri I don't have his name) maybe the most explosive high school player in the country!! We keep it 100 in Cleveland, and yes the ref's made a poor call on the TD pass, all of us rolled your eyes in the stands, and the QB sneaks were ahhh umm...wow. Unfortunately we have had soo many games taken from US up hear in Ohio it's been a shame and pathetic, however this does not ease your pain I know. Just know that we (the adult fans) respected your team, talent and coaching, good luck the rest of the year.

Everyone who watched the game on TV knows who won the game. I give a lot of credit to the Dwyer team for getting on their feet and battling until the end over and over again. What people who watched the game here don't realize is that those who went to the game from South Florida were taunted unmercifully by the attendees from Ohio. A fifteen year-old girl with a Dwyer T-shirt on was called a Dwyer B**** by a grown man while walking out of the game. Time to reconsider our priorities. Hopefully Dwyer will decline the invitation next time, we know they will be on the invitation list. Great game Dwyer.

The ref's calls were bad; the coaches call for a time-consuming quarterback sneak up the middle was even worse. Dwyer could have had two plays down thee, instead oof one, with good clock management.

It is sad that grown men could be so caught up in there hometown beliefs that they would cheat. During the game one announcer stated that this game was very important to the state of Ohio. It must have been, I applaud Coach Daniels on his class during the game. If I were him I would have been the subject of Jay Leno's monologue " Hey did you see the melt down that the coach from Dwyer HS had during a High School football game..." Anyways thanks to the Palm Beach Post for running this story I hate when something so obvious gets covered up or trivialized. Go Panthers

@ Jay-Rock...yes, Nick's "derogatory sign language" was unsportsmanlike, but let me explain what you did NOT see on camera: at least 8 to 10 Glenville players taunting him from just a few yards away. The camera was too focused on "Jack's grandson", to capture the "WHOLE" picture on live t.v. It's sad to see, because Nick is usually a top-notch kid, with enough control to restrain himself. With that being said, at this point we do not know the outcome of what will be done to him, hopefully, nothing...considering he's a KID and made a mistake, because look, the refs are ADULTS and made a hell of a lot more mistakes yesterday than Nick did.

I'm from Columbus and I'm embarrassed by the blown calls by these so-callled referees. Dwyer clearly scored both touchdowns at the end of the game. Local talk radio today also supports your team as the true winners - so please don't think we are all cheaters here in Ohio. Keep your heads up - you are the true winners regardless of outcome.

A few things here Dwyer got jacked and everyone that saw it knows it...But in 2003 the Refs where from the Big 12 not the Big ten with no Ohio Ties also if your team was so good in 03 how come they could not score from first and goal at the 2 yard line if they are #1 they should be able to punch it in! Just my view we will see Saterday...Dwyer did get robed though!

alrite let's get this straight. Dwyer game had two completely blown calls. Watching the game, if you look at the "incomplete pass", the ref had a clear view of the receiver's knee hitting the ground with full possession of the the ball. As for the 2nd to last play, the clock didn't start, but was ran down to 21 seconds before the final play was snapped. That being said, had the clock started on time, the game clock would be at about six seconds. Still enough time for a final play. and finally, virtually the entire pile crosses the line, which should have been a TD immediately. After reading all these comments, here's what I have to say:
1. Florida beat OSU GET OVER IT!!! 2. Just because the UM-OSU call was made by an SEC official doesn't make it any more biased because it is closer to Miami. Last time I checked, Miami was in the ACC and SEC officials don't give a crap about ACC teams. Sad to say, Miami lost to OSU fair and square. End of story. 3. I agree when it is said that Gator Nation is EVERYWHERE! You don't have to be in South Fla. to like the gators. even if this is the Post 4. If by ESPN cover-up you mean them not showing it on Sportscenter, then yes i believe that everyone who didn't watch the game should see it on TV or headlined on espn.com. Other than that, stop ripping on them. They didn't affect the outcome and the refs chose to be biased and blow the calls. ESPN did nothing wrong in that. 5. Nick O'leary was being taunted by several Glenville players. What does that represent? Not that a top notch TE was making derogatory gestures towards the opposing players like some of you say *cough buckeyes earned it again *cough But more like Glenville players showing unsportsmanlike conduct i.e. taunting towards the losing team after a heartbreaking loss and provoking some Dwyer players, which some had to be restrained.

What comes around goes around. When half of your team doesn't live within the dwyer bounderies, you might be a cheater. When U illegally recruit players from others teams/schools to win at all cost, you might be acheater. It was certainly a bad call. I truly feel sorry for the Dwyer team, however I was rather disturbed by their poor display of sportsmanship on NATIONAL television. I saw several Dwyer players give the 'middle finger' as well as several of them having to be physically retrained by their coaches.

Honestly, if I'm Dwyer, I count that as a WIN on my record and I'm undefeated right now... because there is NO WAY IN HELL that they didn't score at the end. They shouldn't even acknowledge that game as a loss... they themselves should list that game as a win and their own record as 1-0. The state of FL should acknowledge the game as a win for Dwyer and the hell with anyone else who thinks otherwise. Getting fuked over on purpose shouldn't count against your record when it clearly decided the outcome of the game. I was cheering for Glenville but the referees really botched the end of that game. Dwyer scored three times on that drive from what I could see. They scored on a pass play that was called an incompletion. Then on the one yard line they appeared to score but the referees made no signal and let the play continue for perhaps 10 secs when he was clearly stopped (though perhaps in), the clock did not start until the play was over! Then on the second play from the one they had 21 secs (when they probably should have only ten). The Dwyer quarterback on this play was clearly IN THE END ZONE and once again no signal at all from the refs as time ran down, then with 5 secs left they finally said he did not get in, which left Dwyer with no time to run another play. The players from Dwyer were extremely pi$$ed and I don't blame them - they had the game stolen from them by incompetent refereeing.

I absolutely agree. The officiating was abysmal in the closing minute or so of that game. I too was pulling for Glenville, but the Dwyer team clearly got hosed. That group of officials should never again have the opportunity to participate in the Herbstreit series.

Game was fixed. Glenville had to win this game or they would not have made the playoffs this year. How could you have the "Great Cleveland Savior" Ted Ginn Sr. be chided for only having eight games on his schedule (Six in the Senate)? If Glenville lost either of their first two games from out of state teams, they would not have had enough computer points to rank in the top eight in region 1. Now, even if Glenville wins out, there is a chance that they will still not have the points.

Glenville can't be proud of this win. In the bottom of their hearts, the players know that the game was given to them by the refs. I don't blame the Glenville players and I think Coach Ginn handled it correctly by saying "I would never answer that question" when asked whether he thought Dwyer had scored.
However, if the Kickoff Classic wants to continue to draw quality out-of-state teams, then they need to find better officials. It really came across that the refs just wanted to ensure the Ohio team won and in the process, they embarrassed the State of Ohio and took away a great experience from a group of out-of-state high school kids.

I have got to chime in here. First off, someone said that the referees should go back to Pee Wee Football. Hey don't do that to those kids. Just awful officiating: Two scores called non touchdowns, perhaps a third. Note to ESPN: The catch that was a non-touchdown, was the best catch I have seen all weekend, bar none. The jumping, twisting, acrobatic catch was simply, the #1 play of the day. Just awful. I do hope Kirk Herbstreit comes out on College Game Day, along with Lee Corso, and talk about this. Remember, Dwyer had a 31 game winning streak on the line that was snapped because of the referees. High school rules stipulate that a receiver has to have one foot in bounds, as well as the college and Canadian game. In the NO Fun League, you have to have two feet in bounds. That kid was good in all of those leagues: He had a knee and an elbow down. Folks that counts as three parts of the body. From what I understand, A knee counts as two feet. Then there was the elbow. There was no juggling of the ball either. What was the line judge thinking. Also, where was the back judge. I never seen him on that call. It was his call and he was nowhere to be found. This is another reason why I think there should be a Side Judge and a field judge added to the crew. I know that North Carolina does this only in the playoffs. Should be done in every game. Especially one nationally televised. Dwyer, don't hang your heads. Coach Daniels, your kids played great!

I knew that the refs were crooked when they called the unsportsman like on the dive into the end zone. That wasn't excessive celebration, itg was making sure he got in. And he didn't do anything excessive after the TD. The result was a 15 yard penalty that allowed the Ohio team to run back a kick off for 6. Then, of course, the worst officiating I've ever seen in the last couple of minutes

Panthers you should be proud..I was blessed to watch the game in person and yes the referees made some really bad calls......but I must agree the hot dogging in the end zone cost us...COMPOSURE ALWAYS! Special Teams. The kicker Bobby is great. Attention to detail. DO NOT SHOW BOAT. PENALTIES LIKE THAT COME BACK TO HAUNT YOU. They score and take the wind out of us. I also agree that it was not super excessive..but todays game is treated so differently. Anyway, I was sooooooooooooooooo disappointed and totally agree that these referees should be banned for at least a year it was pathetic.

You have to remember that, on a passing play, you must have one foot on the ground for a TD. You can be in the air on a running play leaping. Furthemore, this is football not Rugby, forward progress are in there to prevent injury to the kids. When whistle is blow you can not push the pile for a score.

Sooo, monents later with the ball on the one yard line Dwyer runs 1 QB sneak against a defensive line that outweighd them nearly 50 lbs per man. That should have been the end of the game, but the clock didn't start. So with a huge GIFT of another play some brillant play caller reached into the playbook and pulled out the same play. Southern speed into a brick wall.
Perhaps had Dywer traveled without 19 coaches but more than their 2 deep they could have gotten outside the wide bodies rooted on the goal line

If Glenville played Dwyer 10 times on a neutral field, Dwyer wins 7 or 8 times.
Extremely impressed with QB, TE. They would do quite well in Ohio. Dwyer yesterday however was hurt by their own penalty totals. They play a little cleaner in execution, maybe the end doesnt happen.
In being objective, I believe the best way to think about comparing HS football between states is that in big schools, the top 10 would break about even across the board from state to state year to year. If you think your state is better, fine. Not worth arguing over, because impossible to know.
I also hate OSU and hope that the Bugeyes get their azzes whupped by the Canes. Nobody plays the woulda coulda shoulda like the Bugeye Nation.

Both defensive lines played great the entire game. Penalties killed Dwyer plain and simple. Almost every game in Highschool WILL have Officiating issues, as this one surely did in the end. First, the refs absolutely blew the calls but blame yourself for showboating. Whether or not you think the endzone dive warranted a flag is insignificant. If you don't do it, you have no chance of being flagged.
Second, the ref that threw the flag in the '02 National Championship game was not a Big Ten ref, although I'm sure it's easy for everyone in Hurricane country to accept that as true. The fact is that the ref was from the SEC...closer to Miami than to Ohio. And by the way, had a horribly blatant pass interference BEEN CALLED with just a few minutes left in regulation, that game never goes to overtime and the Buckeyes win anyway. Go back and watch it. The announcers are beside themselves that the interference wasn't called. The late flag in OT was a make-up call even though it WAS legitimate.
Third, election corruption IN OHIO???!!! Jeb's state created the worst election corruption in U.S. history to get his brother elected in 2000. Republican districts in Ohio had their own problems with corruption in helping to get Bush elected as well, the scope & depth of which we will probably never know, but who could forget Florida's "hanging chads"?
Last, get over it. Just like in '02, if Florida was sooooooo much better than Ohio, then they would blow Ohio out. As it stands, they were in a dogfight 8 years ago, yesterday, and they will be again this Saturday. Just accept it, Ohio owns South Florida. And don't even start with the Gator crap because you can't be a fan of both. You're either SoFlo or you're a Gator. You can't be both. Let's just hope yesterday's refs combine with the '02 championship refs to officiate this Saturday at the Shoe!
And if this little rant has you p-ssed off right now, get a grip! "Those poor kids" will get over it. Stop living and dying by a stupid football game. What a total shame and disgrace for the host team. To be given the win by the refs and not earn the win is no win at all. This is quite evident to everyone.

How did this turn into a debate about the U or OSU or anyone but Dwyer's game Sunday? Some great example you all are setting for these kids. *sigh*
Sure, Dwyer had penalties, and I am hoping they will learn the lessons to be learned from their mistakes. But this is also about bad officiating, and how two clear TD's were denied, causing the Panthers to lose the game. If the ref had just looked at Lewis' uniform after the endzone catch, he should have seen the paint indicating he had been inbounds, not out. I'm still trying to figure out how they didn't give the last push to the end zone TD to the Panthers.
Another lesson I hope the kids take away from this is good sportsmanship. It was uncalled for for the winning team to taunt the Dwyer kids the way they did at the end of the game. What happened to sportsmanship? When the final whistle blows, you shake hands, congratulate the other team on having a great game/putting up a good fight, and go to your locker room. You don't stand in another players face and mock him or taunt him. If I was their coach, i would be embarrassed, and would be sitting them all down before practice today to have a long talk about how to play clean AND with class.
Congratulations to Dwyer...you guys did a GREAT job and made all of us proud. We all know you won--the guys on ESPN know you won. Now go out and win your way to a State Championship!
PS: C'mon Slink. Dwyer isn't the hood, and this is the Post's website. Use proper english.

If ESPN wants to match up the top high school teams, ESPN should sign up the top game officials.
On one hand, if Florida teams are expected to play away games against a home team and home officials, maybe Florida teams should say 'Thanks, but no, thanks."
OTOH Dwyer never would have had a chance to score the second overlooked touchdown if the bonehead officials had started the game clock at 32 seconds for the play that got Dwyer down near the goal line: an untimed running play!!!

Despite the result, it was an outstanding day for Dwyer. Imagine, some of the guys had never even flown on a plane. The entire commmunity came together to support the effort. The crowd at Duffy's was unbelievable. The team played well and made us prowd. Other coaches in this district came to our defense. This is an outstanding program that creates great opportunities its players. Period.

This may be sad to some but this game really bothered me all night. Just to know the whole world saw this game and what a let down that was for these kids. Its sad to know that a wrong was done and there's no way to correct it even though there were thousands of witnesses. Sad that the refs thought this one game was worth them losing their jobs or at least being suspended...just sad. To Glenville, a win by cheating is not a win at all and have fun walking around with that guilt and Dwyer's win because each one of you all know that was a lost. For everyone saying the 2nd td wouldnt have counted if the clock had started on the last play...THE 2ND TD WOULDNT HAVE BEEN NEEDED IF THE 1ST ONE WAS CALLED RIGHT...that child was clearly in the end zone...knee down...elbow down...come on. Showboating had nothing to do with it because in the end they still would have won if the refs had not cheated.

This was reckless and intentional. As I screamed knowing that the game was won the refs had that lets just let the clock run out look on their faces. This is a shame and a scam. I attended Pahokee High as a student however I always support Florida teams. This loss should be deleted from the record books at a mimimum and dwyer should jump ahead of them in the national polls. As an Ohio State fan and football fan living here in florida I watched the Dwyer football team play their hearts out and then get robbed by the officials. That end zone throw and catch was worthy of the pros. Dwyer represented Florida in and outstanding manner and is the true winners in this mess.

Occasional bad officiating is a part of the game - but it doesn't have to be. That being said, I would sit those officials down for a game or two, and then have them finish out the season on the junior varsity schedule - and then, have them complete additional special training before they are allowed to work a varsity high school football game again. But, as I said, it's a part of the game. Go Panthers!

To all of the local people, even those from other schools, who expressed their outrage at the terrible officiating of this game, thank you so much. Dwyer went to Ohio to represent Palm Beach County and the state of Florida and they had the game stolen from them. Dwyer, you played a great game. Wish you could have seen the crowd at Duffy's that came to show their support. We were all there with you in spirit, and you made us so proud. As for you "Buckeyes" you are showing your ignorance just like your Ohio officials. Your team showed a total lack of class just as you did in your posts. The Glenville players also showed their lack of class at the end of the game, and their total lack of sportsmanship. No worries though "Buckeyes" - we know who really won that game, and all of your ranting and insults won't change what every pair of eyes watching what went on saw. If you can take pride in any of that, I feel sorry for you.

Like my cousin who for 12 years has taught the sciences in the Cleveland HS district knows the brothers there that many are so stupid you just about have to put the answers on the board for them to pass. I wonder how many who attend Glenville will see jail time? What % graduate from all black Glenville HS in four years? ,,sure were bad calls, with the last 2 play calls were the worst; unbelievable. With 350 pound road graders over the center, call a QB sneak. Coach was worried about the Northern speed outside. Brilliant; out muscle when out weighed by 50 pounds per man with kids from the neigborhoods. He made a statement with his call; and lost.
Looks like some team disipline training, as well play selection refresher is in store for the coaching staff; or continue to blame the officials.

As an alumnus of Glenville H.S. who was at the game yesterday in Columbus, it was a hard fought competition by two extremely talented teams, we were extremely impressed by your Tight End (#34 O'Leary) your Quarterback (Brissett #12) is a "Beast", and other than our own Shayne Wynn (#4) your running back #2 (sri I don't have his name) maybe the most explosive high school player in the country!! We keep it 100 in Cleveland, and yes the ref's made a poor call on the TD pass, all of us rolled your eyes in the stands, and the QB sneaks were ahhh umm...wow. Unfortunately we have had soo many games taken from US up hear in Ohio it's been a shame and pathetic, however this does not ease your pain I know. Just know that we (the adult fans) respected your team, talent and coaching, good luck the rest of the year.

Everyone who watched the game on TV knows who won the game. I give a lot of credit to the Dwyer team for getting on their feet and battling until the end over and over again. What people who watched the game here don't realize is that those who went to the game from South Florida were taunted unmercifully by the attendees from Ohio. A fifteen year-old girl with a Dwyer T-shirt on was called a Dwyer B**** by a grown man while walking out of the game. Time to reconsider our priorities. Hopefully Dwyer will decline the invitation next time, we know they will be on the invitation list. Great game Dwyer.

It is sad that grown men could be so caught up in there hometown beliefs that they would cheat. During the game one announcer stated that this game was very important to the state of Ohio. It must have been, I applaud Coach Daniels on his class during the game. If I were him I would have been the subject of Jay Leno's monologue " Hey did you see the melt down that the coach from Dwyer HS had during a High School football game..." @ Jay-Rock...yes, Nick's "derogatory sign language" was unsportsmanlike, but let me explain what you did NOT see on camera: at least 8 to 10 Glenville players taunting him from just a few yards away. The camera was too focused on "Jack's grandson", to capture the "WHOLE" picture on live t.v. It's sad to see, because Nick is usually a top-notch kid, with enough control to restrain himself. With that being said, at this point we do not know the outcome of what will be done to him, hopefully, nothing...considering he's a KID and made a mistake, because look, the refs are ADULTS and made a hell of a lot more mistakes yesterday than Nick did.

I'm from Columbus and I'm embarrassed by the blown calls by these so-callled referees. Dwyer clearly scored both touchdowns at the end of the game. A few things here Dwyer got jacked and everyone that saw it knows it...But in 2003 the Refs where from the Big 12 not the Big ten with no Ohio Ties also if your team was so good in 03 how come they could not score from first and goal at the 2 yard line if they are #1 they should be able to punch it in! alrite let's get this straight. Dwyer game had two completely blown calls.
Watching the game, if you look at the "incomplete pass", the ref had a clear view of the receiver's knee hitting the ground with full possession of the the ball. As for the 2nd to last play, the clock didn't start, but was ran down to 21 seconds before the final play was snapped. That being said, had the clock started on time, the game clock would be at about six seconds. Still enough time for a final play. and finally,
virtually the entire pile crosses the line, which should have been a TD immediately.
After reading all these comments, here's what I have to say:
1. Florida beat OSU GET OVER IT!!!
2. Just because the UM-OSU call was made by an SEC official doesn't make it any more biased because it is closer to Miami. Last time I checked, Miami was in the ACC and SEC officials don't give a crap about ACC teams. Sad to say, Miami lost to OSU fair and square. End of story.
3. I agree when it is said that Gator Nation is EVERYWHERE! You don't have to be in South Fla. to like the gators. even if this is the Post
4. If by ESPN cover-up you mean them not showing it on Sportscenter, then yes i believe that everyone who didn't watch the game should see it on TV or headlined on espn.com. Other than that, stop ripping on them. They didn't affect the outcome and the refs chose to be biased and blow the calls. ESPN did nothing wrong in that.
5. Nick O'leary was being taunted by several Glenville players. What does that represent? Not that a top notch TE was making derogatory gestures towards the opposing players like some of you say *cough buckeyes earned it again *cough
But more like Glenville players showing unsportsmanlike conduct i.e. taunting towards the losing team after a heartbreaking loss and provoking some Dwyer players, which some had to be restrained.

It was certainly a bad call. I truly feel sorry for the Dwyer team, however I was rather disturbed by their poor display of sportsmanship on NATIONAL television. I saw several Dwyer players give the 'middle finger' as well as several of them having to be physically retrained by their coaches.

Dwyer, count that game as a win, your 1-0 right now and don't let ANYONE tell you otherwise... you won that game, period. So don't be upset, celebrate your victory.

Hey Florida, I just checked... Glenville still has a 0 in the loss column and Dwyer has a 1. You can all keep saying as much as you want that Dwyer won the game, but alas, they did not. And suspend the refs?! Why?! They should be commended for doing exactly what we needed them to do! Ohio wins again! Don't forget to lose some more sleep over a a high school football game. And by the way, for those of you that I reeled in with the "SEC ref" comment. The real story is that the entire crew of the '02 championship game was Big 12, so why would they care about EITHER team? They didn't. And the Big 12 exonerated them. Don't take my word for it. Read it for yourself and weep...

The calls you mentioned were not even close to being as obviously wrong as the THREE calls that gave Glenville the win. The state of Ohio is and should be embarrassed by what transpired on national TV. I also heard rumors that the officiating crew is being investigated.

Now you know the rest of the story. I don't condone bad conduct from the Dwyer players, but this is what they were being bombarded with by a classless team who behaved like chumps.

showing your opponent up with excessive celebrations and dancing on the sidelines is not the same as playing with attitude and aggression. I don't care what "HOOD" you're from. It's not like this is a new thing either. I've seen it happen over and over again since 2007 and the Glenville coaches obviously do nothing to stop it. That's not classy football pal.

I was cheering for Glenville but the referees really botched the end of that game. Dwyer scored three times on that drive from what I could see. They scored on a pass play that was called an incompletion. Then on the one yard line they appeared to score but the referees made no signal and let the play continue for perhaps 10 secs when he was clearly stopped (though perhaps in), the clock did not start until the play was over! Then on the second play from the one they had 21 secs (when they probably should have only ten). The Dwyer quarterback on this play was clearly IN THE END ZONE and once again no signal at all from the refs as time ran down, then with 5 secs left they finally said he did not get in, which left Dwyer with no time to run another play. The players from Dwyer were extremely pi$$ed and I don't blame them - they had the game stolen from them by incompetent refereeing.

I absolutely agree. The officiating was abysmal in the closing minute or so of that game. I too was pulling for Glenville, but the Dwyer team clearly got hosed. That group of officials should never again have the opportunity to participate in the Herbstreit series.

Game was fixed. Glenville had to win this game or they would not have made the playoffs this year. How could you have the "Great Cleveland Savior" Ted Ginn Sr. be chided for only having eight games on his schedule (Six in the Senate)? If Glenville lost either of their first two games from out of state teams, they would not have had enough computer points to rank in the top eight in region 1. Now, even if Glenville wins out, there is a chance that they will still not have the points.

Dwyer came all the way from Florida to be robbed. We (Ohio) can do better than that. No way Glenville legitimately won that game. But, it was given to them by a bunch of striped wimps.

Glenville can't be proud of this win. In the bottom of their hearts, the players know that the game was given to them by the refs. I don't blame the Glenville players and I think Coach Ginn handled it correctly by saying "I would never answer that question" when asked whether he thought Dwyer had scored.
However, if the Kickoff Classic wants to continue to draw quality out-of-state teams, then they need to find better officials. It really came across that the refs just wanted to ensure the Ohio team won and in the process, they embarrassed the State of Ohio and took away a great experience from a group of out-of-state high school kids.

Um, OK.
