Boys soccer: Park Vista, John I. Leonard and Spanish River earn district victories

Gabe Montes scored on a penalty kick, leading Park Vista to a 1-0 victory over West Boca Raton in a District 10-5A boys soccer quarterfinal Monday night in Boca Raton.

Cory Hartstein had four saves to earn his seventh shutout, leading the fourth-seeded Cobras (11-5-4).

Park Vista advances to face top-seeded Boca Raton at 8 tonight.

District 10-5A

John I. Leonard 2, Atlantic 1 (4-3 shootout): Brigham Barrios' shootout goal helped the sixth-seeded Lancers (10-6-3) knock off the third-seeded Eagles in Boca Raton. Alfredo Salazar scored a goal and goalkeeper Sebastian Moron had six saves for the Lancers, who fill face Spanish River at 6 tonight.

Spanish River 8, Santaluces 1: Danny Ruiz scored three goals to lead the second-seeded Sharks (15-2-2) to the rout of the seventh-seeded Chiefs (4-10-1) in Boca Raton. John Adary, Spencer Ackerman and Pedro Hurtado each scored a goal.

District 12-2A

Cardinal Newman 3, Lincoln Park Academy 2: Steven Holmes scored two goals, Tanner Klenoshek added a goal and Chris Tobalski contributed two assists, helping the fourth-seeded Crusaders (7-7-2) top the fifth-seeded Greyhounds in West Palm Beach. Newman advances to face top-seeded Benjamin at 7 p.m. Thursday.

District 13-1A

Boca Raton Christian 3, FAU High 0: Jose Braga scored three goals for the Blazers (11-2-4) in their win over the Owls (2-10). Indiana Jones and Louis Alfieri each had an assist. The Blazers will face host Highlands Christian at 5 p.m. today.

Donna Klein Academy 1, Deerfield Beach-Zion Lutheran 0: Marc Joseph scored a goal as the Eagles (9-1-4) edged the Lions (4-11-1) in Pompano Beach. Donna Klein will face Yeshiva at 7 tonight.

Boca 8-1 win. Pv couldn't handle john i, do you really think they could handle us? Aryeh saw you miss that pk smh.garbage.no competition
