Grandview Prep guards Eric Mance and Kamil Williams took center stage in what was supposed to be a showdown between Grandview center Ismaila Dauda and West Boca Raton's talented duo of Anthony Anderson and Robert Lockhart.
Mance scored 24 and Williams added 16 to help fourth-ranked Grandview Prep (9-1) outlast second-ranked West Boca Raton 74-68 in the championship game of the St. Andrew's Holiday Classic.
The 6-foot-9 Dauda certainly did his part with 27 points and 14 rebounds, but Mance and Williams kept West Boca Raton from collapsing its defense on Grandview Prep's athletic post presence.
"What really helps is when you have a big guy like Dauda," Grandview Prep coach Joe Dawson said. "It draws teams in and forces them to focus on him."
Mance, a sophomore, also grabbed seven rebounds and made consecutive three-pointers during Grandview Prep's 13-2 run to start the third quarter.
The Pride never looked back.
Williams, an eighth grader, carried much of the load after that, scoring 14 of his 16 points in the second half.
"Those were some great contributions from very young kids," Dawson said.
West Boca Raton (9-1) started cold, falling behind 19-9 in the first quarter. But the Bulls made several runs that kept the contest close.
Anderson, a 6-5 senior wing, got hot in the second quarter, pushing the Bulls to a 32-30 halftime lead. But Anderson scored just six points after halftime.
Lockhart struggled all night, missing 13-of-16 shots. The 6-1 senior finished with nine points and nine rebounds.
Lockhart and Anderson's backcourt mate, point guard Tommy Sirkin, led the Bulls with 21 points.
"It was a reality check for us," West Boca Raton coach Joe Nappi said. "They just wanted to win more than we did."

Great high school basketball game between kids and coaches who have known each other for a while. Never even an indication of anything unsportsmanlike in an incredibly intense game with a championship at stake. Nice to see! Great show in front of a super crowd which is also nice to see these days!
