All-Area girls tennis: Rebecca Siegler, St. Andrew's

There still are reminders of the injuries St. Andrew's Rebecca Siegler has suffered during her high school career.

She still wears an ankle brace and still worries about letting her racket head drop because it might reinjure her wrist.

But Siegler was healthy this season, and it showed. She won the team state singles title with a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Miami-Carrolton's Daniela Lopez, a match that also clinched the state team title for the Scots.

"Through all the adversity she has faced, she has come through that," St. Andrew's coach Scott Williams said. "For her to clinch the final match that won us the state championship was amazing."

Before her freshman year even started, Siegler needed surgery on her wrist. She reinjured it soon after returning.

As a sophomore, she teamed with Anika Novacek to win the state overall doubles title, but the next season was slowed by a sprained ankle and a bulging disc in her back.

Heading into her senior season, Siegler was determined to stay healthy and prove that she could still be one of state's best.

Siegler, who committed to Wake Forest, cruised through the regular season undefeated, but lost to American Heritage's Rasheeda McAdoo in districts and regionals.

"I think (the losses to McAdoo) are why in that final match she just had fire in her eyes," Williams said.

X3XX7z Informative, but not convincing. Something is missing but what I can not understand. But I will say frankly: bright and benevolent thoughts!....
