All-Area: Brytney Annis, small schools volleyball player of the year

Lake Worth Christian traditionally has boasted a powerhouse volleyball program and this season was no different, thanks to Brytney Annis.
The Defenders' senior middle blocker is a do-everything player with the size and talent to intimidate just about any opponent on the other side of the net.
You'd never guess the 6-foot Annis was intimidating in anything if you met her, but when she's on the court, she's vocal and she's imposing. There's a reason she's going to play at Palm Beach Atlantic next year.
"Brytney is outgoing and energetic and bubbly," Lake Worth Christian coach Terri Kaiser said. "Her enthusiasm and energy for the game of volleyball is contagious."
Annis formed a fantastic front-line partnership with fellow first teamer Meagan Milligan, a sophomore. They were the key cogs in yet another Lake Worth Christian team to make the state championship match.
Annis was second among small-schools players with 307 kills. She also had 160 service points, 70 blocks and 42 aces.
Those totals were significant improvements over last year's numbers, when she was a first-team All-Area selection.
"I've dreamt of winning (Post Player of the Year) since I was a freshman," Annis said. "I just really wanted to win it."

Formed a dominant pairing with Annis; had 261 kills and 84 blocks.
Hannah Fountain, Cardinal Newman, Senior, outside hitter
Led the district runner-up Crusaders in aces and kills.
Monica Sowers, Boca Christian, Senior, setter
Amassed 380 assists, 237 service points, 55 digs and 54 aces.
Emma Rocha, Pope John Paul II, Junior, setter
Tallied 658 assists and 175 service points for a talented Eagles squad.
Christie Nicklaus, Benjamin, Senior, outside hitter
Finished among the best in both digs and kills.
Amber Courtwright, Summit Christian, Senior, outside hitter
Repeat first teamer was second in the area in digs and third in kills.
Samantha Evans, King's Academy, Junior, setter
Put up huge numbers with 551 assists, 179 digs and 153 service points.

Kaiser led the Defenders to their fifth consecutive district title and yet another state championship match, the 10th in school history.
SECOND TEAM
Kristy Golden, Lake Worth Christian, Senior, outside hitter. Talented outside hitter posted 143 kills and 161 digs.
Sami Spidell, Boca Raton Christian, Senior, middle blocker. Monica Sowers' best friend had 206 kills, 158 service points and 37 aces.
Gabby Fisher, Lake Worth Christian, Senior, outside hitter. Collected 241 service points and 80 aces for the Defenders.
Sophia Sanchez, Summit Christian, Freshman, middle blocker. Had a breakout first year with 70 aces and 193 service points.
Keelin Severtson, Cardinal Newman, Sophomore, setter.
Notched 199 assists and 47 blocks for the Crusaders.
Dani Chiste, Pope John Paul II, Junior, outside hitter.
Recorded 183 service points, 237 kills and 228 digs for the Eagles.
Mikah Adams, King's Academy, Senior, libero.
Lions leader had 193 digs and 21 kills.
Christine Casey, Benjamin, Senior, middle blocker.
Racked up good numbers of kills (189) and blocks (47).
