    As foretold....

Basically, they got taken over by Christ Fellowship Church........They have at least three men on the BOD.....The admissions director is the wife of one of the BODs......and basically the mission statement changes over night.

CFC has put several million dollars into that schools future and they are running the show now.

Instead of ministering to the kids that need it, they only want kids that will be good. Whatever that means? Cause as far as I remember it was always the preachers kid who was the crazy one.

Yes a whole bunch. Some of those families were BIG time supporters of the school and have had multiple kids enrolled in the past and / or currently.

I think Powers and Davis are the only ones left from the Pre States days.

What a shame. There are educators there that have been there for 20 plus years, who served the kids and had received the blessings of the good works they had done over the years. I would bet they are not comfortable with the changes.

Time will tell if this is a good thing or the kiss of death.

The issues go way beyond the athletic program . As far as loyalties , the composure of the school and the changes have forced many families to make the difficult choice of removing children and placing at another school . I understand this is a football blog , but I can tell you that the comments are slighted by only focusing on football . .. It has become very apparent that Dr Coleman and the BOD had a vision , if this was an error , actions woukd have been taken to change this . Congrats to Dr Coleman and his wrecking crew for dismantling a great school and reducing to fit inside the little bubble of " good kids " . Makes me sick to my stomach

Badly misinformed. He has had multiple meetings to address the concerns and stated clearly that 'mischievous kids can stay. They just cannot stay if their disruptions affected the teachers ability to teach.' The problem with that philosophy is....???
You are correct, this is not all about football. It is about improving the academics at JCS and giving our kids the best chance for future success,.
This is NOT about creating 'robots'.
Regarding the football side; what did Dr. Colman do to change ANYTHING?? Coach Powers: still there. Coach Davis: still there. 4 home games at Dwyer. Each of those cost money. The only reason I see it has come to this is unsubstantiated rumors, personal agendas and parents insanely coddling their kids.

    The facts said:

    9 months, 3 weeks ago

Two sides to every story, and then the truth. There were definitely some disruptive and bad kids at jcs that had to go. Good luck Jupiter high administration! But that is not the entire story as to why many of the athletes left jcs. The groundwork was laid before colman arrived. Many of the top athletes played both football and lacrosse. The people running the athletic dept did not support lacrosse because their son is the baseball coach. Lacrosse coach finally had enough and word got out he was not returning. Almost every good 8th grade athlete left the school as a result. Thus started the mass exodus of almost every football player. Colman stated in a newspaper interview last august that there was too much emphasis on athletics at jcs. He is an arts and music man. As the year progressed you could see his lack of support for athletics. Rumblings started in the winter and spring. People made other plans. We do not coddle our kids. We consider athletics a major part of the education process. We want our kids at schools that support athletics. Colman made a very big error in judgment. When administration realized they had a problem, it was too late. As parents, all we heard were empty promises. Our kids are student athletes, not student piano players. Sad ending to a great run of education and athletics at jcs. Good luck to all that left and to all that remained.

    @the facts said:

    9 months, 3 weeks ago

Lacrosse did at times seem to be shortchanged. Field availability is always a JCS issue. But the coach made his own decision and I do not feel it was fully due to lack of admin support. He saw all the graduates, saw the gap between them and the younger kids, and did not feel the need to continue growing the program while maybe having to take a step back with varsity to do so. He inherited a lot of the talent, saw it graduate and decided to move on.
Sad ending to a great run of education and athletics at jcs? Hardly. We will be fine, but thanks for your concern.

Please explain the comment "it was the Preacher's son who is crazy". What exactly does that mean and what are the facts to back that up. Also, are you implying he was allowed to stay in the school, simply for the fact that he is the preacher's son. Is this one that is around 16 right now? Does the child have a known handicap that the teachers are aware of and have agreed to help him with? There is a huge difference between a child with ESE diagnosis and a kid who is just defiant, and unruly because they think it is funny to disrupt. But if the ESE kid is so disruptive that the class is held back and it becomes a huge distraction for kids and teachers, that is unfair also.

This school had amazing momentum and with the success of its football team , lacrosse team , great teachers , great principles ...leaders like Leslie downs, Rachel sanders and Tim holland ..all of them let go ..the only reason " rebuilding " is going on is that " tearing down " occurred ..kinda like buying a house and bulldozing it to rebuild another One . I think it will take more then a year to rebuild . What amazes me the most is how many families with long histories of attendance when they informed the school they were leaving , the school seemed like they didn't care and zero attempt was made to retain them .

Move on you don't have a clue. You lost good kids and good families. Families that agonized over their decision to leave. Once again, administration at jcs did not, and does not have a clue about student athletes. When colman showed he did not care about athletics, good families had no choice but transfer to other schools. Then, with all the people that left, there was no $$ left for financial aid, so other families that have received assistance over the years could not afford to stay. The school will suffer for years as a result of decisions, and worse, just not paying attention to what student athletes desire.

Many people / families went to JCS not because of the great program, not to receive a solid Christian education, and not because of academic opportunities.

They went there because the option of sending their kids to JHS to play under coach Pierson was not an option.

With Pierson gone, people are going to look to put some money back in their households.

Well, today was the 1st day of school at JCS and all is well. Enrollment is down about 40 students in the high school but up in elementry. Everyone is here because they want to be here. Anyone who picks a school for athletic reasons needs to have their head examined. Other than football, travel programs are your pathway to college scholarships not high school. In football if your good enough, they will find you no matter where you play.

To the players who left, most won't see the field at their new school.

Its a miserable place , so many great kids have left there, but parents seem really happy about their decisions. What was horrible was made even worse by having to pay for it! They have either lead or been tied at half time in every game except two this year. Good life lessons have also been learned for those who quit. This year shows how talented Powers and his coaching staff are and how much heart and talent is in these young kids who stayed. Powers test will be next year. How he handles these young kids who fought this tough battle with him will be difficult when some of these kids who quit come back. These kids coming back are coming back to take there jobs back and these kids who stayed are not going to be happy because they want to play and now believe they can win with or without these kids next year. It will be tough but Powers was built to handle this like he did this season.

Not all there kids went to jupiter. 2a ball is great for kids who dont want competion. I try to talk my son from going to JCS everyday and he insist this is what he wants to do. #54 is my son of course. And how can you say it has not been working out great for other players? JCS has never had a D1 player in the history they've had offers but all went to different schools.

Acutally Dad, JCS has more players playing D1 football than jupiter has wins in the last 4 or 5 years. They also have had 3 Lou Grozza semi finalist as the top player in Palm Beach County and dozens more JCS players have played in all star games after the season than JHS players. JCS has played 5A 6A 7A and 8A teams over the past 5 years a beaten most of them. American Heritage is 3A, are they not competition. Jupiter High School football is a MESS. Had your son chose JCS over Jupiter 4 years ago maybe he would have got some of that recognition.

    Beating BCS players?

    Here is the fact
Powers was a great youth coach and brought those players from Jupiter to have some success, then others followed, the doors were wide open.
Old school Jupiter Christians didnt like the element that these players brought in, so they cut off the pipeline
Powers and the O coord did a great job with great players but without the open door admin support you can't compete on the state level

This past year was the year JHS should have finally agreed to play JCS. For the decade prior to this season JHS couldn't have stayed within 3 TDs of JCS. Both JCS and JHS knew it, too. That's why JHS would never answer the call made each year to play.

Congrats your selfish self did that..He doesn't care about anyone on the team accept for his sons. Since there gone he's gone mentally. With the accomplishments of JCS coaches versus the lack of such of the JHS coaches, it'll be a short span before JCS is back in a position where JHS wants no part of playing them.

Let's face it, though, it is jhs we're talking about. They've not been a measuring stick of any school by beating them.

maybe his heart is not in it because its shame full to put 135 lb freshman at fullback, or play a kid at QB who last year was playing pop warner and weighs 130, or a tight end that weighs 120 lbs.

maybe his heart is not in it because he does not really have hope.

    At @Tammy.

Sounds you are a dedicated Eagle and has his convictions. Just wondering how that last line fits in with the HIGH morals you good Christians practice daily.

Truth is JCS has become a safe haven for rich kids to have a coddled high school experience. (IE sports for all)

Truth is many of the kids who are going back and forth are being taught to quit and to lay blame on someone else's door step. These are the same kids that left because they did not want to be on a loosing team....These are the same kids that left because the schoolmaster did not support the program..

I have my ear to the ground, and I dont think much has changed in regards to the way the school is going to administer their policies.....

It will be interesting to see if any of these kids are let back after all the trash talking they and their families did at JCS.

One thing I know for sure......Bill Powers is the Head football coach and not the Admissions director.

Let the JCS vs JHS mud slinging continue.

The difference between Jcs and other schools, like Cardinal Newman, Jhs, Dwyer. Jcs doesn't need a tyler cameron to win a couple ball games, Jcs doesn't need a Malik Brown, or travis rudolph, or all these amazing athletes to still win. Of course it would be nice to have those players, anybody would agree to that. But at the end of the day, there is only one Tyler cameron, only one Malik Brown etc.. When you have the ability to work with what you have, all the players that you have that are not 5 star athletes, That don't run 4.4 40's, that can't bench 400 lbs. When you can coach them up, and make them work together, and teach them perfect fundamentals and request nothing more but 100% effort, execution, and enthusiasm; That is a very special thing. Because at the end of the day, not only are you winning football games, having fun, Playing football. You're also building work ethic, Becoming a man, Not just with teammates, but with family. Your teammates become brothers at Jcs under that coaching, And you work your ass off for your family/teamates, because you know they are doing the same for you. You play every play as hard as you can to not let your team down. You learn responsibility and grow as a human being. Not only that but you have a better chance to win a state championship at Jcs then at all these 8A schools and I understand 8A etc, has better talent and its better competition and many people think anything below 4A is a joke. I've played both. I've Played at 8A, and 6A Schools , and i played at Jcs. And if it wasn't for Jcs i wouldn't be the athlete, or the man i am today. And if i didn't play at Jcs i probably wouldn't have had as many opportunities to play college ball as i did. Let me tell you something, about Coach powers and Coach Davis, all they do is dedicate their time to their players, and their players future. Look at Will Powers, He's playing a princeton along with Kedric Bostic.. Do you not understand how successful the rest of their lives are going to be, having a degree from Princeton.. Now i know not everybody has the grades, but their are so many more Opportunities for your future at Jcs then these other schools.. As far as College, Meeting the right people, Getting good grades, Staying focused, Building relationships that won't just be high school friends they'll be like family. I Cant think of a better school then Jcs. I played D1AA football and I can't explain how much Jcs did for me. And i know you guys are thinking its not the same football it was back when i played, it is. Same Coaching, Same Tradition, Just new players. And I've spoken with several players that are transferring to Jcs. I can promise you this. Jcs will be a contender next season.

There is no truth to what you just said, because I personally know each player that transferred and i am still in contact with all of them, and each one of them has told me they wish they stayed. And the ones that are coming back are happy to be coming back. There is only one as of right now that is staying at the school they are at, and he goes to martin county, and started as a sophmore, and martin county had a very good season and so did he. So i understand why he would stay, but he is the only one staying.

JCS has been a well below par school in everyway, that is until some opportunistic parents started a wrest, ing program, with good success the admin started letting in other athletes namely football. These athletes went there for sports cause the education was horrible.the education It got better because money flowed
in with the more students etc. The Princeton kids are Exceptional students and athletes but I think the coaches lobby and the post graduate move was prolific. The school is not for everyone, they need to find a balance.
To JCS alumni you did need some superior athletes mostly transfers to win at JCS. You only need a few 3 stars at 2A where at 8a you need a few 5*
What JCS alumni experienced was great for him and if HS sports were run for the students every football player should be able to share that experience.
Wish JCS happy 2013 but stay humble.

A very valuable lesson to learn not just on the field, but also the real world after high school...
Ever since season ended many of the players still continue to workout after school and still go to their other sports for practice..I call that dedication!

I am pretty sure all this smack talk would never happen in a face to face conversation . Technology let's us hide behind the texts , e mails and blogs ...cyber space guts and courage we all get . Everyone will lay down the smack talk , give opinions and criticisms with all the conviction and expertise of an ESPN spokesperson . The truth of the matter is that no one is righteous enough to judge another persons actions and decisions .

Parents have made decisions that may not be correct and they have to live with those decisions . No one needs a forum of " arm chair , Monday morning quarterbacks " to judge those decisions . JCS has probably the best coaching of this area and the coaches truly care . The school itself is not perfect, but then again neither are we ... The school is run by people just like you and I and they make mistakes as we all do.

This blog has become really stale and has had no real meaningful conversations . Move on to bigger and better things.
