All-county freshman (18 ppg 13 rpg) Kalvin Cline of American Heritage-Delray will transfer to Pine Crest in Fort Lauderdale. This should give Pine Crest a huge upgrade in terms of post play. Thoughts on the transfer?
Is this true? who confirmed this?
He's 6'2" tall there's guards taller than him. he needsto work on his guard skills if he's serious about basketball. No disrect to the kid but get serious.
I hope that it is true! I saw him play in two tournaments this summer and he was bringing the ball down and going inside. He is a real talent with a high Bball IQ to match. This is a really Big Deal if it is true.
It's a shame if we lose that kid from palm beach county, but is a great grab for PC and he should continue to do well there with the program and supporting cast they have in place for him. PC is right back in the mix for states with acquisition. Good luck young man and represent 561 well as I know you will.
Coach "B" has built a great program at Pine Crest reaching the State Final Four the last 4 years. Kalvin will be joining a solid returning core of players and reap the benefits of both the academic and athletic opportunities. Go Panthers!
Great Fit for both Kalvin and the Panthers!!!
Who said this? How can this be confirmed?
Has the young man said why he decided to make this change?
This is a BIG loss for us at AH both around campus as well as in athletics. The kids and administration all love and respect him. This is one of the finest youg men I have come accross from any school. He is the prototype of a true Student-Athlete. He is very humble when he has the grades, awards and recognition to be a real premadonna. I wish him and his family all the best because they are great people as well. I agree that he is a great fit for PC's school, basketball program and coach. I hope they schedule more games up this way or we will have to start driving ftl.
Reasons to transfer should be for good reasons.
A better education,an opportunity to play in a better system and to learn to inprove one's skill set.
Pine Crest offers both and we wish Kalvin the best.
He has made a wise choice !
This is a Student Athlete that can and will take advantage of all the opportunites at Pine Crest. In additions to the education, the basketball program has produced several D-1
players the last several years.
Good luck to Kalvin and Good Luck to the Panthers......
I wish he would stay at Heritage and set all of the School, County and State records from here. But I don't think he can get a State Championship from here and I know he wants that really bad so go handle your business man if it's a done deal. We will miss you and thanks for your leadership the last two years we are all better for it.
Your boy at AH!
In the world of 6A basketball...No one cares, he'd be very average...enjoy the private school league.
I also heard that coach Downing from AH is leaving is that true?
Excuse me!!!! Dwyer!!!!!! he play against 6A school and he still did average Double- Double...
Small Private schools are the only ones lately producing All-Americans, D1 major, National and State Players of the Year and IVY League acceptance so he's in good company Mr. 6A. Who did your team face thats going to the next level? Hmmmm No one! This kid had dbl/dbls against six D1 signees and commits and a McDonalds American. We heard this same chatter about the other recent tri-county area small school bball players that went major D1.
Usually the best schools are the private ones that kids want to go to for example Providence High school in Jacksonville
Kalvin will fit in perfect with Trey Henry,Billy Thompson and Romas .
The district and the region will be a lot stronger but the addition of Cline will help
off set the loss of several key players and give them a chance to get back to Lakeland.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! To Brandon Knight "Player of the Year"! That is huge for him and South Florida! I also like the team that Coach B is putting together, this balanced attack will be just as difficult to stop as the "Knight Train" was last year. I think we can count on a dbl/dbl from Cline, Trey is a proven talent, RJ is a beast and Billy has a lot of upside. I'm excited!
It is easy to project on paper.
The real test will be when the game begins.
Henry,Thompson and Rj are a solid foundation.
But it maybe 6'' 7 Miles Nolting who combine with Cline that
may have the talent to help Pine Crest get back to Lakeland
But only time will tell.
We definitely have to wait and play the games but Henry and Cline have already shown that they can bring it every game and I've seen both match up with real good talent thats at the next level right now doing really well. Its not a gimme at all but its going to be fun to watch these other school scratch their heads when they try to figure this out after four years of the "Night Train". Is it just July? D*#$@&*!!! This is almost as good as the HEAT drama :}
Cool your jets there PC Fan, I agree that you are upgraging your talent but they're young and they will need some time jell. And you guys have Univ. school and Summit which are loaded and AH Plantation and Nrth Brwd are both getting some talent in as well. It should be real interesting to see if you can pull it together quick enough to outlast some of these teams that have played together for a minute. You're looking good on paper now lets see if that will hold up on the court? By the way does anyone know when the 2010-2011 schedule come out?
Deacon, you are the one using curse words in an open forum on a thread about a 16 year old kid. Who is the ***? This is equivalent to you yelling and swearing at the refs and oposing fans and players at a kids basketball game which based on this nucklehead display of no class I can see you doing and you probably got called to the carpet on that behavior by Mr. Cline if you have problem with him.
I've coached Kalvin and known his family since our boys were 7 years old and I have nothing but respect for him as a father, coach and citizen that does way more for our kids and community than a lot of nuckleheads that swear out loud at youth events and on youth threads. Why don't take this up with him in person the next time one their teams is beating yours. I'm glad to see Kalvin go to PINE CREST!!!!!!
I saw the Pine Crest kids play this week in the Breakdown tournament against some quality high ranked teams and Romas and Cline looked really good together. The addition of Cline to the PC team is definitely a game changer he creates a major match up problem that most school teams wont be able handle with him going from the top of the key to the post. The 8th grader look good also. Good Luck.
Im just saying this isnt a "big time transfer" like if Jacoby left Dwyer, or Anderson left West Boca. Not many people know the kid, just the negatives of 1A basketball....
He had high dbl/dbls against West Boca High as an 8th and 9th grader and he just had a high dbl/dbl with anderson guarding him at the Lynn tournament this summer. Heritage is 2A in basketball by the way and no one is saying he's the only talent in South Florida the two Seniors you mentioned plus Lockhart, Prophet at Summit and Dauda at Grandview are all great talents as well but with three years left and where he is now in size and talent. It's a "Big Time Transfer" for him and PC.
Who is the new 8th grader at PC you are referring to?
I don't know his name, they said he has enrolled in PC for high school. He is definitely fearless and has some pretty good ball handling skills, but he doesn't see the floor very well right now. They said he's another straight A student/athlete so you know he can be taught.
His Dad is Crazy!!! not in a good way and thats me being nice,,,trying to relive his youth thru his kid... Hope PC's coach has some thick skin cause that man bites... he would sell his son to the highest bidder,, I wonder who is paying his tuition?? cause they could never afford that school... PC gives scholarships????
Hey truth how do we know you're not crazy! because this a crazy and cowardly act. Tell the truth 'truth' about your full name and your kids names and where they go to school. Sounds like sour grapes to me, but you are on a thread about high school basketball player crying about how his dad is able to pay for private school. It's creeps like you that hide behind screen names and launch attacks on people that you are jealous of that gets this type of open forum way of track. I was at Heritage the two years they were there any I saw some crazy's but he wasn't one of them. after you give your name I'll tell everyone if you were one of them 'truth'. Also truth, Heritage is not a public school. This is lame.
Hey truth, you're an idiot. Why do you think this is the place for that kind of cowardness. If getting your kids into Pine Crest and Harvard is selling them out, count me in. Why are you hidinig and throwing stones? He's also doing just as well in the classroom, so what ever they're doing I would say keep it up and let jealous haters like you continues to hide and throw stones. Also, why are you asking us if Pine Crest has scholarships? You claim to know the details about everything else in their life? I look forward to see your full-name and your kids information.
I was coming back over here to kick it up a little bit on the "Big Time Transfer" but I see that "truth" is already here spitting his venom. This guy hates any kid that gets more press than his point guard son who he claims is the best around to bad none of the coaches or reporters agree with him. Don't waste your time on him you can see his same attacks on the other boys basketball threads that have anything positive to say about an athlete in palm beach county. I'm just keeping it real!
I think its great to see that such a good athlete has such good grades and aspirations to go to Harvard. Brandon Knight set a really good example for those type of student/athletes to follow,
Im a little concern of the people on here that attack kids and there parents for what they feel is best for THERE child. Isnt that what we suppose to do as parents put our kids in the best position to succeed? Im a parent who move my child from one school to another and I know it was the best thing I could have done. You have to be a hateful and very jealous person to attack a family about there financial status and where they send THERE kid to school. I see this all the time on this forum and the football forum. All I would say to the Kline family is do what you think is best for your child and I hope he succeeds and when that hater see's him in 5-7 years with a degree they change there tune. I dont know the Kline's, but im wishing them good luck and be bless.
Why would we even accept that this person even knows the family. Because they said so? and how do they know that they can't afford PC when they don't even know how much PC cost. AH cost the same as PC. But anyway I hate to see them go and I know first hand that the coaches, players and administration loved them and apreciated all that they did for us here. I will make a little room in my heart for PC now that Kalvin is there. Can you say "ROAD TRIP" to Cypress Creek!
I have two that I will sell-out to Pine Crest and any of the Ivy League schools! Who will be Pine Crest's toughest District and Regional oponents?
I think "truth" is talking about the 8th grader, but he is still way off base with that comment on this Thread.
WE ALL KNOW THAT THE "TRUTH" It's DANTE SCHOLL FROM
"Sorry" D
Hey if the truth hurts,,,go buy a band aid..CC, was nothing without the guys around him and for all u PC guys wait and see..yes he is a good student , but he could not even get into St Andrews... IVY LEAGUE???? who u kiddin...TRUST ME you all will be pointing and asking who is that guy raving in the stands before the day is over... hope you are up a lot, that may be the only way to quiet that guy!!!!!!
The truth must hurt YOU, thats why you're hiding. Everyone let this idiot play with himself, he's obviously not up to our standard and does not know the people he's talking about. I think the Thread may have ruun it's course and we all wish Kalvin and Pine Crest the best over the next few years we are all very excited!!!!!!!!
When Kalvin made All-County this past season he called each of us and thanked us for our contribution towards his success and the team's success. That was a class move by a Freshman. The Pine Crest Coaches and Fans are going to love Mr. Cline. I hope everyone does watch how he acts and supports the program and school, he's a great example.
And for your information my son is the best point guard in south florida period and he could have gone to any of those little schools like American Heirtage, Saint Andrews or Pine Crest. I know more about basketball talent than those coaches and reporters anyway SO WHO CARES WHAT THEY THINK!
so who is your son and what grade is he in?
Calvin's father played in the NFL for several years. Having watched Calvin play baskeball most recently in the Roots tournament, I think he's a fine basketball talent. He appears to be about 6'4". Calvin's court awareness and physical skills lead me to believe he may be better suited for a football career. I'm not saying he won't play D1 basketball, but he could easily play D1 football. Either way, good luck to him in his career.
As a team mate of Kalvin, in middle school and some travel tournaments, I believe he is a great player. But, his size is an issue. If he grows to be 6'8 6'9 he will be in the NBA no questions asked. But if he stays at 6'4 6'5 college basketball is the limit at the forward position. Good luck to him and next roots tourney he should kick it out to me on the wing some more.
He is a solid performer, will bring his game up at Pine Crest. American Heritage will sadly miss him and thier point guard form last year. I doubt very highly he would average a double double at Dwyer, he would play sparingly on that team.
DIVISION 3A WILL BE ALL BROWARD AFFAIR THANKS TO THE BIG NAME AND UNKNOWN TRANSFERS COMING ON DECK TO SHOW CASE THIER TALENT CLASS OF 2012-2013 YEA BOY ! SOME PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE SUPRISE ! WHILE OTHERS WHO NEW BETTER WON'T BE , BY THE SILENT GAINT KILLERS ON DECK , POINT SCORERS, SHOT BLOCKERS , AND 2 MAN DEMANDING FAST BREAK SALM MA JAMMA BASKETBALL PLAYERS YES I SAID REAL PLAYERS ! ONCE AGAIN COMING TO YOUR TOWN 2010-2011 BE ON THE LOOK OUT I'M EXCITED ! I HAVE MY FAVORITES ! MINE ARE ( # 1 AH #2 PC #3 UNIVERSITY #4 RICKARDS ) FINAL FOUR ,I SAID IT ! NOT JUST HYPE ! I'VE SEEN WHAT'S ABOUT TO COME . SO HAVE A LOT OF YOU IN PALM BEACH JUST WON'T SAY THOUGH ! PLACE YOUR BETS ! YEA BOY ! "WHAT YOU DONT KNOWN WILL HURT YOU "
apparently you dont know to much. AH,PC & University school have to play each other before states.
always a want be smart guy probaly 5'8" shooting guard goin all the way to NBA guys that just get in the way of the real players when theirs no possible way you can play this game at the next level just buy a ticket ! NO ONE SAID ANYTHING ABOUT STATE I SAID MY PICK in ORDER OF RANKING ! NO BASKETBALL PLAYING ASS!
While on that subject i must say that alot of guys i won't say basketball players because that would not be accurate . be through family hype or just plan denial of the truth can't play this game at the next level D1/PRO due to many factors size ,ability, "grades " and just plane no good . Be that as it is , guys every one can't are won't be a basketball player at the next level "grades" is a big reason you might have all the skills with a bird brain and can't make a good decission to save your life but you want to hate on the kids who have both metal and physical abilities that moves them foward into private schools who main reasoning for giving tution assistance is to sponser hard work of the student /player so known and play your postion study hard practice ! are just shut up pass the ball and enjoy hopefully playing with one of these kids going to the next level !
ill let you throw the insult because you probably rooting for your son team, but tell me this. Rickards is basically returning the whole team from last year. So turn your rankings around Rickards is your number 1 team. just to give my credentials i 6'1 230lbs who played safety at UGA in the late 80's. To end this learn your teams first and stop picking your son team loser and yes i was one of those kids who was sent to a private school on somebody else's dollar to play both football and basketball.
I should not have insulted you , No i dont have a son in high school, i do have a newphew in the NBA 2 SEASON now ,its not a science the best players up in coming are in BROWARD county thats what im saying you follow what you want im not a loser i have made winners and hope to help make more Illinois ,Kentucky ,just to name a few kids in school now ! SIR ! I help get them there ! Those are my "credentials".
NOW as for the known fact to basketball player as well as so called followers that across the country private schools have sought out the players with the complete package meaning aptitude and athletic ability knowing full well that it is not necessarily the best talent out there but it is the best package thus making a winner end of story. that why my nephew will tell you he might not have been the best basketball player in the area but he had good support ,average grades we hoped for better "private school " of course ! but thank god he had above average skills for the game ! YEA ! but not every one will ,now comes the edge ! 4,0 better and thats, that ! D-I so if you have a talent kid that can beckon private courtship i say as you would be a "DAM FOOL" not to give it to the kid . no insult intened .
The truth of the matter is that recruiting starts as soon as the kids show above average talent in any sport for thier age . by high schools ,college and the pros .if your son has the opportunity to attend a private school and get tution assistance then thats says that he or she has above average talent already which is highly desired by a program, college or what ever . if your son plays at a public school and does not get attenion from private schools it says he or she may not be suited for that sport ,as a coach it is hard to tell a parent who wants thier kid to play at a certian level that he does not have the desired skills needed for a private school to pay thier tution keep in mind schools use these kids like public relations ads(kenny boynton, vargas, knight, ect.) to get paying kids to want to be apart of a winning program call it advertising at its best, both parties get somthing and the paying kids and parents don,t mind we are Rich so don't worry about us get the kids grades up to be able to enter a private school stop complaining ! we want the best and usally thats how we get them. this isnt tax payers money buddy its ours not yours keep yours and we will still have hardest working and brightest players .
To UGA in the 80's just to give u a little scouting help obviously you dont known what you're talking about ( ur not a scout) ur just talking ! so you known somthing seven players will not return on rickards 2009-2010 team all seniors over 6'0 that not going do it this year ! we have up an coming freshman over 6'2 190lbs guards "real guards" each shooting and point with talent coming strong from Palm Beach , not this 6'7 155-190 to light . place your bet !
Ranking means nothing until teams play each other.
Cline should help Pine Crest. (but how much only time will tell )
But don't rule out the loss of All County 6'7 Tevin Westbrook now at NBP.(a big loss for PC )
Pine Crest now is in the rebuilding mode with the loss of 6 players who are gone from last year's State Runner Up Team.
Can Cline,Henry,Romas,Nolting and Thompson be enougn ?
Experience will be a real key to the Panthers this season.
Coach B will have his hands full with the district and the lack of senior leadership.
Their district will be a battle with not only AH but with NBP who has other transfers coming in 6'5 John Pierre.. In addition to a transfer from St Andrews and a 6'10 center
who will be returning from an injury from last season. They are a team to watch..
Let the games begin......
I agree ,news i didnt have westbrook is a big loss for PC, why the transfer ? NBP has done some back door dealing YEA ! I think it makes it exciting and all the better keep it up coachs may the best man win or i should say team ! looks good for broward .
Man you don't know what you are talking about. There are plenty of kids that choose to play at public schools. Kids run to private schools cause they don't want to compete for a spot. Take Vic Adams and Donnel Mcclean they got no play at Dwyer they left in stead of working hard.the only reason that they're back is that Dwyer lost everyone. But that doesn't make them better players than kids who play at public schools they're not even the best kids at dwyer.
Well the end to other day ! yes i do known what im talking about thats like saying kids want to go to D2 that are the best and brightest players kids cant afford these schools they are basically ask to come .Until you are wanted by some one you will never known what i mean ! you just keep thinking like that O.K ! KIDS RUN TO PUBLIC SCHOOLS BECAUSE THEY DONT WANT TO WORK HARD ARE JUST DONT HAVE THE SUPPORT MOST OF THE TIME .THEY DONT HAVE PEOPLE TO STAY ON TOP OF THIER GRADES AND PRACTICE, THATS THE MAIN REASON DONT BE FOOLISH ! KID HAVE TO GROW UP FAST AN REALIZE GRADE POINT AVG IS THE WAY WE WEED OUT THE PROBLEMS BEFORE THE START ! "BUTT NIPPIN" IS WHAT ITS CALLED
I think all three are contendors PC, AH and NB especially with Tevin at NB. AH has a guard that if he gets hot against you he will shoot the lights out. But I have to give the edge to PC because they can do what they do every night and that is defense and pund it inside and attack the lanes. I also think PC has the best triangle.
Man this is funny a post on kalvin kline. i swore that was a underwear, I could not consider this post serious, but man has it gained wind.
O.K. Mr. Know it all tell me how many kids have played d-1 ball from private schools in palm beach county in the past five years.I can name 15 kids from public school (sant, boca, dwyer, pbl, pbg, jupiter,lw)and tons more at the d-2 level including my son.So tell everybody on this post that private schools are better. When you play schools like Yasavel your gonna score 30 pts a game but at public schools the comp is a lot better. How many kids from summit thats playing college ball, how about newman are ah are how about that team that glades day had 2 years ago you can't and those are the top schools in pbc
you say dwyer lost everyone? no they lost 2 players jason & tia. donnell and vic would have gotten plenty of time at dwyer last year. one main reason they would have played is dwyer couldnt shoot the ball. second ive talk to vic dad and the reason he left was because of financial issues. his dad would have preferred he stayed at newman. private school are great because they get the kids ready for college life, well ill say newman, ah, & pc does because they are college prep schools. you mention that vic didnt work hard his dad work in a gym and he was in that gym everyday all day i witness that myself on numerous occasion. then tell me what school in this county wouldnt have taken them both. they both make dwyer a better and more dangerous team than they were last year and yes a favorite to win it all.
Private vs Public -It about education first (or at least it should be ) and if a family has a student athetle thath has skills they should pursue the best place where their child would benefit the most from. But understand the classroom is the real catalyst to the future.
Just look at the results and who goes more to college and does the public high school experience lead to better opportunies ?At this Time Private schools seems to have the edge.
The issue is when kids like Kline want to move it should be for more than putting a ball in a hoop.
They are a family serious about education and want a competitive basketball program .
The acdemics and the program Coach B has established offers both. Good luck to Kalvin for wanting more and willing to take that extra step for it.
Although we are writing on Kalvin Cline's thread the issue of public vs. private should not be held against the kids just like the size of the school should not be held against their individual playing ability. We are happy as heck to get a student, person and athlete of Kalvin's caliber. And I know that he and his family is happy to be at PC. These sports programs run in cycles and sometimes you get a good unit together that can compete with any team of any size. I've seen small schools beat large schools and then lose to another small school so lets go out and support our favorite teams and players in a very positive and supportive spirit of competition. Good luck to everyone!!! Panther Pride. :)
@ Who cares! You know a lot about that toll both experience and you seem very well trained with asking the question about fries. Hang in there and make sure you don't quit because life is not a rehersal and you don't get do-overs. Sorry you didn't make anything of your life. keep cheering though, he knows what to do with your type of #@x-&!\. Go Heritage and PC.
This person obviously knows nothing about Kalvin. If this kid has any affliation with a quick serve restaurant in the future I'll bet it will be as an owner of a chain of them probably employing that fool and if Kalvin has anything to do with the toll system in the future it will definitely be as a CEO or President of the governing agency. Kalvin did not care that we were a 5A school when he did his Dbl/Dbl against us twice last year. Good luck young man and keep being a gentleman.
Hey Jason Leifer, you are the beat reporter for High School sports, have you spoken to Kalvin or his parents on why he's making the move to PC? What is your opinion on the move? I think it's a great move for both.
OMG!!!!!!! I saw Kalvin Cline on campus this week and he is gorgeous! He looks like a college or NBA player and he is soo nice to everyone that comes up to talk to him. I wish I had more years here to see him but I will definitely enjoy this year. :) Welcome to PC Kalvin.
steve, truth is talking trash not d truth, get your facts wright before you post. thanks
When do we get our first look at Kalvin in a PC uniform? Are we playing in any tournaments before the regular season starts? I can't wait to see this unit together it should be real interesting.
Tevin got kicked out of Pine Crest. he was forced to leave and he chose nbp. They will be getting a great football and basketball talent in Westbrook
Too funny I guess there really is a kid named after a underwear. I thought this was fake never heard of the kid otherwise
Get off of these kids back. Does it occur to anyone that these kids just enjoy playing ball. Leave them alone, let them go where they want, support the schools, watch the games and then shut the heck up.

Hey Funny, you're funny :). The fact that you are pretending to have never heard of this kid is a slam on you not him. You keeping focusing on the name and your underwear and he'll keeping putting up the numbers for the people to notice that matters like the HS coaches, news media and college scouts. Go Panthers!!!!!!!!
Does any one notice that some of these names are postings from the same people?? Some with even the same names, only in caps and then in all common letters or a combination which the sytsem will allow you to do. They are actually arguing with themselves, at the same time throwing other people under the bus. Others mimick others names. Not a forum I would will come back to, that kind of underhanded tactic causes the site to lose all credibility.
Kalvin is talking to Kalvin...more than half of these people on here are fake..Kalvin made them up..kids trying too hard to get recognized..
Or it might be me since I Know how to do it. :)
Does anyone really know why this young man left AHS? Whether he was on a scholarship or not doesn't explain why he left . AHS would have matched whatever PC offerred and both schools send the kids to the Ivy's. There's got to be more to it than that.
