Farod Cobb
Jean Prophete
Will Sparkman
Jeff Romeus
Josh Shattie
Paul Jones
Terrell Harris
Thats more than 10 but im pretty sure all of them will 1st,2nd or Honorable Mention.
I may be missing a few players and this is more than ten but here are my thoughts:
Tier 1-star players, can carry a solid team
Jacoby Brissett (Dwyer)-does anything need to be said?
Ismaela Dauda (Grandview)-Excellent size, his team has excelled, not involved in the offense at some points
Farad Cobb (Summit-tier 1 or 2)-will get his points, lights out shooter
Anthony Anderson (WBoca)-hasn't been playing too well but a proven scorer
Jean Prophete (Summit)-great rebounder, post defender
Vic Adams (Dwyer)-lights out shooter, kept Dwyer going strong with Brissett
Tier 2-good players, not bonafide stars
Sparkman and Hall (JIL)-never seen them play
Greg Louis (Dwyer)
Robert Lockhart (WBoca)-lightning quick, not a great shooter, can't exist as primary scoring threat
Scott Witowski (Wellington)-from what i HEAR good passer, won't wow you with athleticism
Tier 3-complimentary players
Paul Jones (LWC)-freakish athleticism, good rebounder, does the dirty work, NO legit. post game, not a scoring threat against good teams
Evan Kupferberg (SR)-injured atm, good size against most competition, solid leaper, one-dimensional offensive game
Joel James (Dwyer)-not entirely impressed with his game, poor footwork, doesn't grab as many rebounds as he should, massive player, solid shot-blocker
Tier 4-solid role players
Marquis Weal (VA)-dislocated shoulder atm, quick and an explosive leaper, solid scorer and improving passing skills, non-existent left hand...Juan Smith from VA as well
Richardson Myrthril (ATL)-4 year starter, great rebounder, passionate player
*Romeus, Fobbs, Schattie, M. Williams, Desorvil belong somewhere on here, I just don't know where
dont follow much of p.b.county b.ball but games and players i've seen. bissett, fobbs, lockhart, scholl, sirkin, jones. anderson, hall, the kid from wellington over rated. basket ball IQS.
Jacoby Brisset>Dwyer
Greg Louis>Dwyer
William Sparkmen>John I
Chris Hall>John I
Josh Schattie >Jupiter
Bobby Hain>Jupiter
Rigueson Desorvil>lake worth
Nelson Presendieu>lake worth
desorvil outside shooter not a great ball handler. presendieu? please!!!!
Jacobey brisset is one of the most smoothest players I've ever seen, how can u actually say jacobey, chris hall, cody fobbs, anthony anderson, and robert lockart are overated. These kids does good every nite in and every nite out. Why must you guys talk bad about these kids all the time, they have proven there selves to be qualified as some of the premier players in the county.
The improvement of Greg Lewis is the basketball story of the year in PBC! A high rated player with potential getting better as the year goes! As the Post says he may be player of the year?Lets see how he finishes!
West Boca's Anderson has not played well of late hope he steps up.
Class of the class are Dauda and Brissett.
Would like to see Cobb play better competition, as well as Prophette but they are there.
Terrel Harris, Vic Adams, Sparkman, Wtoski or Hain round it out!
Greg Lewis reminds me a lot of Larry Sanders of PSL about 6 years ago. He's going to develop so much in college.
@Seen Them - obviously u havent' seen Presendieu play - he's only averaging 18 ppg against 6a and 5a schools. The kid can flat out shoot and penetrate. He's a very good high school baller and good on defense. The kids from Summit play nobody and put up big numbers against the nobodies They can't be included because their stats are against non-competitive schools. At least Grandview Prep play against competitive schools. Stop hating on kids who play against good competition.
Greg Louis has improved, no denying that. However, the player of the year should show up in the teams "big" games. Against teams that match up size wise with him he struggles i.e. jupiter, miami dr krop. 7pts against jupiter and in crunch time against dr krop he disappeared when the team needed him the most. And Vic is a streaky shooter at best. The best player this whole season for dwyer has been Harris. Jacoby is their best player when he is there but harris guards the perimeter player, rebounds, scores, dives for loose balls etc....Greg Louis is not player of the year
I would love to see Summit, Grandview & Dwyer play eachother. Just for the purpose of a great team to show two overrated teams that they and their coaches are not any good.
it should be Greg louis,Jacobey brisset,William Sparkmen,Vic Adams,Terrell Harris. Chris Hall,Scott Witowski,Jean Prophete,Ismail Dauda, Farod Cobb,Anthony Anderson,Ray Jones,Josh Shattie,Paul Jones,Jeff Romeus hands down
The Palm Beach Post said possible Player of the year, If you watched Greg Lewis play the last 6 games nobody is playing better! Something in his game has jumped to the next level. He's smoother and more decisive! Jacoby against Lakes tonight was at his best!
I like Mr. Fan's player list!
agian i watched dante scholl, and this young man is a very well rounded basketball player. his shot, handeling of ball, and he see's the court well. keep up the great work youngman.
Players like Greg louis,Jacobey brisset,William Sparkmen,Cody Fobbs,Vic Adams,Terrell Harris. Chris Hall,Scott Witowski,Jean Prophete,Ismail Dauda, Farod Cobb,Anthony Anderson,Ray Jones,Josh Shattie,Paul Jones,Jeff Romeus hands down. these should be players who you talk about in the palm beach area, and dont count out joel james.
Huntley?
1) Jensen Beach is Martin county
2) The kid shoots about 30% and commits more turnovers than any 'PG' I've ever seen.
3) Best player on that team is a sophmore ... Alex Thompson - top scorer in the area and one of the top rebounders
i'm not trashing any of these young men but be real, jeff remus is just a three point shooter, he cant handel ball well, so be real. chris hall is a three point shooter not a good ball handeler, but plays good defence. scott w ? on an off player, ther's much better with true iqs in basketball just look at stats.
Why do we continue to put players that can shoot 3's in the top ten. It's not hard to shoot 5-10 threes per game and make a few. Can they dribble the damn ball or can they just stand and clap their hands and launch it?7
Besides Dauda There is not a player in this county that could crack Dwyer's Top 6!
Brissett, Harris, Lewis, Adams,James, Davis! All D-1 players.
That's 7 you figure out the other 3, or does it matter?
If you've seen Donnell McClean(Dwyer) play, then you know he should be on the list. I don't care how deep on the bench he is. He may be averaging 4 pts a game but every time I see him play he's the most dominating presence on the court.
Dwyer is absolutely stacked with talent but Davis and Adams are not in the top 10, and Harris is playing very well but I think he is on the bubble for top 10. I agree Brissett, James and Louis are all deserving of top 10. When you have a great big man like James and have Brissett and Louis on the wings and bigs like Davis coming off the bench on a HS team it is a lot easier to look like the best guards in the county.... how do you think Adams or Harris would look if they played at the other Palm Beach HS? My guess is they would look good and be solid players but you wouldnt be calling them Top 10 players. When you evaluate players you have to look at what they are accomplishing with the talent around them, otherwise when you get a great team of talent like Dwyer every guy on the team would get those spots and that isnt accurate.
pbfan, you are right. last year when vic was at newman did you here about him no, vic is another outside shooter, as well as hall the two boys from lake worth, as well as sparkman as well as scott w.who ever rates these young men are wrong, watch hall and sparkman, one way dribble, cant handel a true point gaurd comming down court, or dont want to, same with scott w,as well as the two from lake worth. these boys are not good point gaurds.vic is not a point gaurd. best point gaurds that should be in top ten as well as shootin gaurds are sirkin, scholl, and the twins from lakes. great ball handlers can go both ways, hard to press, just great all around players, in another wordsA GREAT BASKETBALL IQS.
Vic Adams from dwyer, terrel harris from dwyer , quin cole from lakes, bobby haines from jupiter are all role players, when you watch these teams play you know who's the best players are on the court you watch dwyer play you already know its jacobey brisset hand down, you watch palm beach lakes play, you know its cody fobbs, as well as jupiter you know its josh shattie so u can't put those guys in the top ten not even top 15.
jacoby yes, harris only because hes sorrounded by great players fobbs give me a break, the twins blow him away.
@dywer fan, sounds like you need a car, to go to watch other kids. ask steve maybe he'll buy you one!!
stats show in tell everything there leading scorer in best player, stats over everything.
Adams and Harris start and star on any team in the county! If they were @ lakes or Jupiter either would be there best player!
That's not saying Schattie and Cobb aren't very good. I like them both
When Vic was here at Newman he took a team that had 3 and 4 wins the previous 2 season to 16 wins. I guess the kids you mention could do the same. You should have been at a couple of Newman games im sure if you ask Dwyer, Glade Central, Jupiter about him they would tell you to your face that you are wrong. He is a wonderful young man and we miss him dearly. I have been to a couple of his games this year and saw that every coach makes sure they know where he is on the court. From what i see in Harris he is a hard working kid that does all the little thing that need to be done.
Watched the Dwyer - lake Worth game this week and realized that the Lake Worth kid, Desorvil is a better basketball player than Brissett. I know most of you will disagree. The LW kid scored big time shots with defenders in his face and also attacked the bigs at the basket and scored. His jump shot, which few kids in PBC have, is impressive. It is not a set shot, like Brissetts, but a real jump shot. His handles are not as good as Brissett's but he also rebounded against the Dwyer's bigs. He fouled out early in the third quarter due to poor refs but had already scored 15 pts. Let's put it this way, the LW kid is an MVP because that team doesn't win a game without him. Dwyer wins without Brissett all the time. Brissett is not an MVP caliber player on his current team. He should stay with football in college.
I very much disagree that the Lake Worth kid is better than Brissett. What you have to realize is that Dwyer doesnt have to rely on one kid to win. SO you will see games that Greg, Jacoby, Victor, Terrell, Montell or Joel wont put up big numbers every game. That team is built that they all score. Desorvil Is good but like you said he has to work on his handles and without him Lake Worth doesnt win 3 games. He is MVP of his team no question, but I wouldnt say he is better than Brissett. Dwyer top 7 would be the star of 95% of the teams in south florida. Take Vic Adams he was 1st team at Cardinal Newman and now he is part of a Fab 7 at Dwyer.
With 1 week left in the regular season. It's time to get serious about how the player of the year as well as 1st team all area is selected. I know a lot of people are going to way in on this and have some negative comments. But the numbers don't lie we all will agree on that. Player of the year has got to be Co player of the year with William Sparkman and Jeff romules these guys have put up the numbers from day 1. Both have had 4 30 point games and going back and forth. No one have been as consistent than these two.1st team Greg Louis,Chris Hall,Regerson Dersivol,Alex thompson,Robert Lockhart 2nd team Jocoby Brisett,Scott W,Nelson P,Josh S,Vic Adams or Serge A. It shouldn't be a popularity contest it should go by the numbers.Jacoby isn't playing at the same level and Anthony Anderson has been A bust this Year.So please reward the kids that have worked hard and consistently put up the numbers.
So the Dwyer should be punish because they dont put up the number. Both Jeff and Will play Dwyer and both score under 12pts. Dwyer starters dont get to play 3 quarters. Greg, Vic, Jacoby could put 30pts on any given night but they are sitting most of the 2nd & 3rd quarter and all of the 4th. Every game has been a running clock. So you think they should be penalize for not being able to play a full game. Jacoby and Victor put up big games against nationally rank teams. Maybe they wont be POY, but Dwyer starters should all be 1st teamers. Even you cant diagree with that.
get real. regerson and will sparkman are not all around players, there ball hogs, do you look at stats? they are not even in assit brackett, all county should for plyers that are all around stat players, any ball player can get points, if all they do is shoot, but a great ball piayer that has high assits as well as high points tells somthing better,NOT BALL HOGS AND DONT CRY WHEN THEY DONT GET TO SHOOT AS SPARKMAN AND REGERSON DO. WHERES THERE ASSITS?
This is funny In the last 2 weeks Dwyer played John I, Lake Worth and West Boca, Clocked them all.The best player and the only player that could compete against Dwyer of the 3 teams was Nick Anderson.
Sparkman is a fine player but not in the top 5.
1st team Brissett, Anderson, James, Prophett. POY Lewis!
2nd team Sparkman Witowski, Schattie, Cobb, Harris,
Come on the Post needs to sell papers to 2nd team communities. So expect the 10 to be mixed.
If Brissett had to score 40 points a game to win he would and could!
Like I said this will get people fired up.I can tell you guys don't look at the paper on Tuesdays Will is ave 5 ast per game.I don't know how many shots Regerson take but will might get 15 shots a game. And I'm not taking nothing a way from the Dwyer players but they chose to go there and if your not producing yes you do get punished that's just life.Long after these young men get done playing ball when you go to work and don't produce you can't say I didn't work a full shift. So call it as you will Jeff and William have consistently put up big numbers this isn't a game of what if it's who have.So go ahead with the name calling but these 2 kids have the numbers to back it up.
I don't know about the other games but against John I Dwyer fans was walking out becuase of the refs. And if Will isn't top 5 who is.Anthony Anderson haven't done anything all year. And James is still developing come on man stop hating and give these kids there props.
get real, if ur kid was high in stats it would be in tuesdays paper. he's a good shooter thats it. you should quit selling ur son. PLEASE!!!!!
I was just told who Will dad is and he got kick out the Dwyer game. Ill say this and end this. DWYER kids did choose. You can have the POY, but on signing day when you see most of our seniors signing a Letter of Intent we will know which means more. DWYER will have atleast 3 kids sign D-1 Scholarship and 3 to 4 more sign D-2. We will sign more kids at DWYER than the rest of the county combine. The kids all knew they weren't gonna put up big numbers this year because of there talents.
Will is a fine player! He is not the player of the year! He carries his team but he carries them no where!
Player of the year needs to step up against top competition! Sorry Will falls short of POY!
I wont be the first to say it, Joel James is on his way to the NBA! He may be a one and done! He is in ESPN's top 60 now after starting 18 games! He needs to be recognized! He is definitely next years POY! Maybe Florida player of the year next year!
Dwyer fans weren't leaving because the refs!
We only stay until we have a running clock!
Will Sparkman wasn't one of the top 8 players in the game that night, let alone player of the year!
Sorry Mr. Sparkman your son is good but not very good or great!
Dwyer has very good and great players!
Like I said you Dwyer parents should be ashamd of yourself.I never said my son is the best player in the county. But when you look at who is producing he and Jeff Romules are give those kids there props. All you guys do is bash every kid that don't go to Dwyer it's ashame. And the clock never ran against John I we were down by 14 when coach Howell pulled Will cause he didn't want him to get hurt do to the horrible refs. And Joel James going to be a great player who ever said he wasn't.Vic is going to have a great college career,Jocoby,Tarrell. But being around basketball like I have I think Greg got the best up side over all the kids. But you guys still should be ashamed stop putting these kids down. And for those who don't know me don't past judgement cause I have personelly talk to 4 coaches about Vic when he and my son both are guards so learn some respect please and get to know all the kids.
I think they said "he is good! he can play.he put up nice numbers!" That is not a knock on Will Sparkman!
He can play! He is not the player of the year! or co POY as you said above!
Will is arguably top 10 in the county as you see!
who yall think the sections for small schools should be
@panther... stop the stupid talk about Joell being one and done. The kid is a work in progress and has a long way to go before the crazy talk about NBA and one and done nonsense. He's got a lot to learn.
Grandviews Mance,Garga,Williams and Canete are as good as any guard on this list big or small school.Enough Said!!!
Grandview= the most overrated team ever
Top players in county:
Jacobey brisset (dwyer)
Greg louis (dwyer)
William sparkman (john I leanard)
Anthony anderson (west boca)
Joel james (dwyer)
Cody fobbs (palm beach lakes)
Vic adams (dwyer)
Farod cobb (summit christian)
Terrell harris (dwyer)
Chris hall (john I leanard)
Jeff romeous (santalucious)
Josh shattie (jupiter)
Robert lockart (west boca)
Ismail dauda (grandview prep)
Scott w. (Wellington)
I was at the Dwyer vs West Boca game friday night and I think Greg Louis and Jacoby are going to be the finalists for POY. James will be a monster, and if he continues to get better he will be a candidate for POY in the state next year. With that said he is absolutely 1st Team this year in Palm Beach. I think Dwyer has a great supporting cast but would still argue that a couple of them wouldnt stand out as much if they were on another team and had to carry the load. For example, I watched 2 kids score 37 out of the measly 42 pts West Boca could put up. Anderson finally showed some toughness in the 2nd half and played with pride. I havent seen that for a couple of weeks, and I think while he still will probably get picked for 1st Team, even though he is not deserved of it over other players who have been better consistently. I wonder how a Vic Adams or Terrell Harris would have done if they were on West Boca and that challenge was in front of them, my guess is not as good nor as competitive as the little guard for west boca or Anderson or a bunch of these other players like Sparkman, Hall or Romeus would do. Lockhart was sorely missed as he is much tougher than Anderson, the rest of West Boca's team was so scared from the opening tipoff it was ugly to watch. I think this is the best Dwyer team I have seen in my 10 years of watching Palm Beach basketball, I also would vote for Ross as COY because it is never easy to have 8-9 guys that can all play and buy into the Team first attitude, he has done that and that is great coaching. I dont want to offend any of the kids I am just giving an opinion on how you can keep things on an even keel when giving out post season awards.
over rated players, not bashing these boys but there over rated. hall, sparkman, scott, regerson , raemuss, shattie, COBB, anybody can rack up points if thats all they can do.
then whos the under rated players of plam beach county
you tell us?
Sat next to Big east assistant Basketball coach said Joel is the real deal! Will play basketball for the next 15 years!
He does have a lot to learn
But the one thing he does not have to learn is to be 6'-10" and be athletic enough to run the floor! The kid is a prototype NBA center a very rare find! They travel the world looking for a kid like Joel!
Watch what happens if/when Dwyer makes a deep playoff run! Joel will move further up the recruiting ranks! He is # 56 ESPN now as a unknown!
@Palm Beach Post: your top 10 list above is the best I have seen!
@over rated: the kid from lake worth scores and defends and rebounds. As does Lockart and Anderson. Scot W runs his team with a high bball IQ and also scores, defends and rebounds. All of these kids are not just shooters and they are not selfish players. They also dish the ball to an open teammate You need to see all of these kids play. Summit is the only team that hurts their own players because their game is against terrible teams so you can't really judge how good their game is. Romeus is one dimensional --- heck of a shot when he's open but will not work hard to get open if he's defended throughout the game. Dwyers team is unbeatable until it gets to states.

Ok lets stop the madness, enough with the Grandview over rated crap! Dwyer is the only team in the area that played a better schedule than GPS. GP played Miami Pace,Miami Lakes,Miami High Pine Crest North Broward and West Boca. Compare that to Summit and the rest of the big schools. Jones@aol your team may be over rated but that's not the case with GPS. So sad to bad!
Can Santalues coach add How can Jeff have 401 pts in 19 games then jump up to 565 pts in 22 games. if you're going to boost up your kid stats you got be smart about it.I didn't hear of Jeff having 3 50 point games. This has got to be the a typeo on his part.Jeff had a good year he don't need his coach to cheat for him.
